I thought this odd, too. This case has too many oddities to be coincidence.
I understand that the trial will be televised. I expect we will hear much about both parents and what they were doing that night. I imagine that will open up revelations about this couple that will not be flattering, to say the least.
Since all it takes is one juror to find "reasonable doubt", the van Dams behavior may well be the defense attorney's best friend.
I just wonder how much the judge will allow and if it will ultimately cast suspicion on the parents as well. The movements of all parties involved that evening will be interesting to hear. If the parents are caught in any kind of lie, all bets are off for an easy conviction.
Don't get me wrong. I want Westerfield to fry if he's guilty, but I think this case promises to be it's own soap opera.
