Alright, it now appears that journalist Daniel Pearl's gruesome death scene not only involved a throat-slashing, but his decapitation at the hands of his captors, as well. And the tragic events were filmed, to boot. (UK Times). Undoubtedly, that tape needs to be made available for the public to see, albeit at a late viewing hour for the eyes of adults only. It would be fair to say that the captors wanted no remaining ambiguity as to Pearl's demise. And these psychopaths reportedly forced Pearl to admit to being a Jew and the son of a Jew, an unequivocal "enemy" of Islam in the twisted minds of these murderous thugs, who worked themselves up into a tizzy in order to carry out their appalling deed. Americans have a right to know the atrocities that have been perpetrated upon our citizens. We're adults for heaven's sake, and we are not going to faint at the sight of graphically depicted killing. For those that are particularly squeamish, don't complain, just turn off the television set. Rush Limbaugh incisively indicated, "The media's reaction is that it (Pearl's death) was so brutal, they're not reporting the details. But the brutality of the death of others doesn't stop them from rolling tape, does it?"

Why? Is it not enough that the man is dead, but we have to have the "right" to watch him be killed? Its hard to figure out whether he is just anxious to see a snuff film or whether he wants to foment anti-islamic violence here in the US.
I can just about guarantee that unless some Pakistani sells a copy of this to "Entertainment Tonight" or some equivalent trash outlet, this will not be shown in the US. Nor should it. Its only purpose is to titillate or inflame.
What does this have to do with whether Musharraf can survive? I think he's going to get tons of support from the US. He's in better shape now than he was when we started bombing Afghanistan.

that tape needs to be made available for the public to see How about just a few color pictures in Time Magazine? Something the kids can see while we're at the laundromat or waiting for the dentist?

Showing the video of Pearl being killed by having his head cut off would be a slap in the face for many adult Americans. It might wake them up. They might understand what this is all about.

As we understand our dear Muslim friends and their beliefs, its time to look at the future. There was a reason why the CIA had authority to go out and kill foreigners who were a threat to the U.S. When Congress decided that was simply not the way of a civlized country, we became a open target. It took 30 years for the threat to finally come to our front doorstep. We must understand the threat and be willing to execute hundreds if not thousands of Muslims who are a threat to the U.S. Lets go to the Russian mafia, the Jersey mafia, the CIA operatives....and simply start to pick individuals that represent a threat. When all of the lower life forms realize their existence might be in danger...they will cool their act and stop uncivilized behavior.

Might be just as effective if we never see it. Sometimes speculation is more interesting than the actuality.

THIS TAPE will put the LIE to the notion that ISLAM IS A PEACEFUL RELIGION...
To: Dave S
I hope that this tape will INDEED force the people to DEMAND that the Palestinians and Saudis be EXPELLED IMMEDIATELY!!!!

I don't know where you're from, but in many part of America, and sadly, middle America especially, people are going soft on the war on terror. The video needs to be shown to shock people awake. Ditto for much of the suppressed footage taken at the WTC site on 9-11. I talked to a group of well-educated professionals today, and no one in the group knew Pearl had been decapitated. I would say that knowledge changed everyone's perception of the event. It's sad but true - the video needs to be shown.

I agree and while they are at it, show what an abortion is and DOES to the developing baby. It's horrendous. Yet it routinely goes on each and every day. When in a planned pregnancy clinic, the patient is NOT allowed to view the ultrasound of the developing baby BECAUSE 90% of women considering an abortion WILL change their minds when they are hit with the FACT that this is alittle human being.

I know we must be protected from the ugly reality of these people. On the other hand we have a scenario like this:
" Limbaugh and his callers rightly noted that the media didn't have any problem repeatedly showing the gory visage of our dead, nude soldiers being dragged throughout the streets of Mogadishu, Somalia. Did "dignity" or concern for the soldiers' families come into play? Of course not! And just a few short months ago, the American cable news channels provided immediate, on-site coverage (via Israeli TV) of the aftermath of grisly suicide-bomber attacks. Shocked American viewers were subjected to vivid, almost surreal, coverage of bloody body pieces strewn all over the place, and without adequate warning."
Repeated over and over and over again without warning during prime time.
Why the double standard?

Nah, it might ruin their whole day, Nah, it's best for the sheeple to believe that this religion is peaceful and loving, just like Bush said. Bush ought to know he is a former history major. Right? And only a handful of these "beleivers" objected. The MAJORITY remain silent while getting all uptight over their rights and profiling. You figure it out.

9/11 wasn't enough?
To: Roger_W_Isom
9/11 pretty much handled that one...
To: motexva
I by no means am going soft on the war on terror. Islam to me is anything BUT peace related. I've got enough images of the horror from 9/11 and everything related. My point is that hearing about the way that Mr. Pearl was murdered is enough.
My question is why has there not been a response other than just pledges of "Finding the killers".
To: da_toolman
I agree - there's no need to broadcast his death.
some here are arguing that America "needs" to see this - so that we will realize what a terrible religion Islam is, so that American's will "wake up".
well, I'm sorry - but that's total B.S. - putting this video out for mass consumption is not only degrading to Mr. Pearl and his family, but it's exactly what the terrorists want.
To: phasma proeliator
I disagree with you on that's what the terrorists want, our news media has grown rather soft lately, deciding what we should and should not see.
And as usual with the passing of time the anger has started to subside, with people once again growing complacent.
Thats what the terrorists want, for us to grow complacent again, so they can hit us again. Those bastard Abu Sayeef Muslims in the Phillipines decapitated a Phillipino soldier and filmed it, as is their custom (muslim fanatic custom) The Phillipine government broadcast it to the people so the people could see what they are up against....Evil Barbarians.
There was thread on Free Republic that led me to a Quicktime movie of a Russian soldier having his his throat slashed slowly then he was decapitated by those Darned Peaceful Muslims, while it was probably one the most horrific acts I have ever seen, it made my resolve against these fanatical bastards even more steadfast.

My previous post is not intended to say I want to see the video, my point is about the kinder gentler news that we are spoonfed by our media. If it's bad news, it's bad news....don't sugarcoat it for me.
I would not want Pearl's family to be subjected to that either, the events at WTC 9/11 were fed to us in the Kinder Gentler format. I think they should have shown it like it was, otherwise we lose our resolve and grow complacent. We need long lasting resolve for this war folks...we need stronger resolve than the suicidal bastards that we are up against.

I don't see how the Pearl kidnapping and execution weakens Musharraf in any way. If anything, it strengthens his moral authority to take action against Islamic Fundamentalists in his own country.
These terrorists really goofed. They killed a reporter who would have given them good press, and they gave Musharraf a license to kill them.
