UPDATE: Dragon's Fury - Breath of Fire: now available at Amazon, Barnes & Nobles & elsewhere
Dragon's Fury - Breath of Fire ^ | February 20, 2002 | Jeff Head

Posted on 02/20/2002 8:34:18 AM PST by Jeff Head

The novel, Dragon's Fury - Breath of Fire, volume one of a five part series about a future Third World War between the West (the United States and our allies) and an unholy union of Red China, her allies and the fundamental Islamic Nations, continues to progress.

This thread is an update/status to those who have purchased the book and those who may have interest in the series.

To date approximately 300 novels have beend sold. Well over half of those are illustrated trade paperbacks and the rest a mixture of MSReader, AdobeReader and Activ Ebooks ... all of which are for sale at the web site, or at various stores.

Recently, all of the Hastings Books stores in the Boise area agreed to stock the book and run an "Author's Signing" day at each store through March. These include:

Hasting's Books at Overland and Five Mile, Boise, ID
Hasting's Books at Fairview and Cole, Boise, ID
Hasting's Books at Idaho and Apple, Boise, ID

I hope to extend that to all Hasting's throughout Idaho and ultimately into Utah before making a general proposal to Hastings for a larger, regional and then national stocking. Several companies that frequent gun shows have also started purchasing the book to sell and a number of other local stores are carrying the book.

The Book can also be ordered:

ONLINE AT THE WEB SITE

... or through

AMAZON BOOKS (Trade paperback, need some reviews in there)

AMAZON BOOKS (Adobe Reader, need some reviews in there)

or at:

BARNES AND NOBLES (Trade paperback, need some reviews there too)

or at B. Dalton Book stores (owned by Barnes and Nobles) (though they are not stocking it). Please use the following ISBN number:

ISBN 0-9715779-1-9

My agent with Waterside Productions continues to be very positive and has manuscripts in the hands of several large publishers.

I have started writing the second volume, "Trodden Under" and hope to produce and publish it in the May time frame.

For those interested in seeing excerpts, reading about the author (me) and reading many reviews of those who have already read the book, please click on the following picture/link.

For those who have already read the book, your comments and reviews would be very welcome. Please, either post them to this thread, or email me at the following:

Also consider entering those reviews at the Amazon and Barnes and Nobles web sites.

Again, thanks for the support and to Jim and FR for the opportunity to keep people up to date.

Well, I have the whole series already outlined.

In fact, I was originally thinking of it all being one book ... but when I got into it and began serious characterization, technical descritpions, etc ... it was clear it would have to over 2400 pages and about 800,000 words ... so I decided on a series rather than parse everything way down.

Figured if it did ok, that such a decision would be a good marketing move too. We shall see.

Thanks for the kind words and good wishes!

Good news,Jeff! Don't forget to call all the local tv stations when you do your book-signing gig to see if they are interested in doing a "local boy makes good" interview with you.

Congratulations on the good news! I just bought a copy at a local gun show this past weekend from a vendor who said he was from down your way. I'm now looking forward to a good read. Thanks for all your efforts.

GREAT idea bro. Hadn't even thought of that. I'll be sure and do so ... and since we have three stations (one each for each store maybe), and since two of them already know me from the Klamath experiences ... maybe they'll actually do it.

I sent the book to Jack ... he should have gotten it yesterday or today. I'll follow up in a day or two to make sure he has it. We'll see what he thinks.

Mind your knot over there.

That would be Kermit. He's here local in Emmett and is buying them about ten at a time to sell at gun shows. He's a good man.

I had to make sure that the web site address was on the book covers (back) for that very reason.

The more the merrier!

Hope you enjoy the read and I look forward to your commetns/review.

Best Regards.

"Bear and the Dragon. Dispatched the Chinese a little too handily IMHO. "

I thought so too when I read it, but after I saw what we did in Afghanistan with hardly any troops, I think maybe Clancy was right.

The relative comparison of Afghan to ChiComms is not a good one IMHO. I believe the ChiComms will not do what we expect ... will be willing to come at us and take a LOT more casualties as they soak up our hi-tech war shots and they will be much more effective in defensive and offensive operations. Just my opinion, but they have a whole heck of a lot more numbers to give if they are willing ... and if they are (ala Chosin) then we will be in for a much tougher nut to crack.

Add to that the likelihood that they will not take action until we were heavily engaged elsewhere to the max of our single theater capability.

Again, just my opinion.

Regards.

One building block at a time ... hoping it leads to a major publisher somewhere along the line ... but we shall see and will keep pushing it either way.

Looking for the FReemail ... then off to la la land.

Ping and Mega ping whoever you want this freeper does not mind. Free Republic should help conservative writers and they in return should support Free Republic. I just got 6 hardcover books some of them talked about here. I will buy a copy by the end of the week.
