The novel, Dragon's Fury - Breath of Fire, volume one of a five part series about a future Third World War between the West (the United States and our allies) and an unholy union of Red China, her allies and the fundamental Islamic Nations, continues to progress.
This thread is an update/status to those who have purchased the book and those who may have interest in the series.
To date approximately 300 novels have beend sold. Well over half of those are illustrated trade paperbacks and the rest a mixture of MSReader, AdobeReader and Activ Ebooks ... all of which are for sale at the web site, or at various stores.
Recently, all of the Hastings Books stores in the Boise area agreed to stock the book and run an "Author's Signing" day at each store through March. These include:
Hasting's Books at Overland and Five Mile, Boise, ID
Hasting's Books at Fairview and Cole, Boise, ID
Hasting's Books at Idaho and Apple, Boise, ID
I hope to extend that to all Hasting's throughout Idaho and ultimately into Utah before making a general proposal to Hastings for a larger, regional and then national stocking. Several companies that frequent gun shows have also started purchasing the book to sell and a number of other local stores are carrying the book.
The Book can also be ordered:
... or through
AMAZON BOOKS (Trade paperback, need some reviews in there)
AMAZON BOOKS (Adobe Reader, need some reviews in there)
or at:
BARNES AND NOBLES (Trade paperback, need some reviews there too)
or at B. Dalton Book stores (owned by Barnes and Nobles) (though they are not stocking it). Please use the following ISBN number:
My agent with Waterside Productions continues to be very positive and has manuscripts in the hands of several large publishers.
I have started writing the second volume, "Trodden Under" and hope to produce and publish it in the May time frame.

For those who have already read the book, your comments and reviews would be very welcome. Please, either post them to this thread, or email me at the following:
Also consider entering those reviews at the Amazon and Barnes and Nobles web sites.
Again, thanks for the support and to Jim and FR for the opportunity to keep people up to date.
Well ... one little step at a time.
Thanks for the congrats!
Also, be sure to include "FreeRepublic" in there.
Hope all is well with you and yours, our prayers continue in your behalf.
God bless.
The problem I had with that book was Ludlum must have thought that he was Alex Hailey. He spent 2/3's of the book Hailizing the history of China and the areas. Then he got into Clancy form in the final third of the book.
I've read some but made the mistake of ordering it in e-book, which I have a hard time sticking with. Gonna get back on it soon.

They have the numbers to give and if they decide to be willing to do that ... we'll run out of magic bullets long before they run out of people unless we are VERY prepared for that type of a war.
In Korea we were similarly ahead of them technologically, but when they came through Chosin, they were willing to literally pile up their own dead and use them as cover to push our Marines out. I had an uncle there who indicates that they literally ran out of bullets and the ChiComms kept coming.
Anyhow, this series tries to address a lot of that, particularly the potential consequences of not being staffed or prepared logistically to fight two major theaters at once. Our enemies know it and so it aint pretty out of the chute.
He got a manuscript, and based on the recommendation immediately read it, liked it and agreed to rep it.
Couldn't have happened with that sort of thing because I sure don't know any of them and my unsolicited mailings to publishers and agents alike have either gotten the reject or been placed on the bottom of the stack.
I know it is more convenient to go through Amazon or B&N, so please don't go to any inconvenience ... but if you do send the order in, I'll get it signed, get a portion to FR and then get it shipped to you.

No bother. I'm the sort of person who would rather go to a little extra trouble to get something special- like a signed book. In the time it takes me to go to the bank, I'll be figuring out how I want you to sign it. ;-)
My company, PocketPCpress, gets to see a ton of novel submissions. Most are truly terrible...which is sad. We wish it weren't so.I have that available on my web site. Doug has turned out to be a great supporter and really does promote the book whenever he can.We recently had the good fortune to read Dragon's Fury-Breath of Fire by Jeff Head and -- for the first time in a long, long while -- we were absolutely knocked out.
Don't be mislead by the fact that -- for now -- this is a self-published book offered only on the author's website. I'm sure this won't be the case for long. This is an amazingly accomplished, professional, techno-thriller that will make you turn page after page after page -- and enjoy every minute of it.
I could go on about plotting and characterization and all that, but I won't. This is simply a hellava great read and "right on" about what's happening in the world today. Tom Clancy now has some serious, serious competition.
