Queen Mum too ill to eathttp://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2002071031,00.htmlBy CHARLES RAE
Royal CorrespondentTHE Queen Mother is now so ill she is unable to eat.
And fears for her health increased yesterday when she fell, gashing her arm.
But despite advice from aides, the brave 101-year-old is determined to travel to Windsor today to prepare for the funeral of daughter Princess Margaret.
The Queen Mum has been confined to the Royal estate at Sandringham, Norfolk, for almost three months following a cold and cough.
Now a senior royal source has revealed: The simple truth is that she has not been eating and that is causing concern.
People in her household have tried to persuade her that she is not well enough to go to Windsor. But she is determined to say her last farewells to Princess Margaret.
She is physically weak, but her spirit is very strong.
That was clearly demonstrated by yesterdays fall.
The Queen Mum wanted to prove she was fit enough to attend tomorrows funeral of Margaret, 71, at St Georges Chapel, Windsor.
She had been practising getting up and down from her chair. Her maid and footman in the next room heard her fall.
They called Ian Campbell, Royal doctor at Sandringham, who raced to the estate in his car with light flashing.
Paramedics and a resuscitation unit from Norfolk Ambulance followed. But the wound just needed dressing.
A royal source said: She was trying to prove to herself she will be able to go through what will be a major ordeal.
It is still not known if the Queen Mother will travel to Windsor by road or by helicopter.
A car trip takes three hours. But she may not be strong enough to get into a helicopter. Despite the accident, her spokesman said yesterday: There is no change to her plans.
She has always put 'duty first'....can you imagine at 101 she is still has a sharp mind & spunky spirit!
This woman has lived through more than most do in TWO lifetimes. Don't count her out! She reminds me of my 98 year old grandmother, who survived the loss of 2 husbands and her only child, my father, (who was the light of her life.) After recent surgery, she is looking for a good looking man to take her dancing.....by golly, she just might find him! She wakes up every day, happy to be alive and determined to see the day through to the end.
Every day I pray that my heart will grow as big as hers (& hopefully, I've inherited those longevity genes).
No, don't count the Queen Mum out...may God bless her!
