Long live the Queen Mum, the saddest thing having to bury a child.
I assume she is being fed by IV, shouldn't be long now.

I agree wholeheartedly.
The milk of human kindness is in short supply on THIS thread, however.

And still she demands to be wheeled out there tomorrow at the funeral.

The story from The Sun:
Queen Mum too ill to eatBy CHARLES RAE
Royal Correspondent
THE Queen Mother is now so ill she is unable to eat.
And fears for her health increased yesterday when she fell, gashing her arm.
But despite advice from aides, the brave 101-year-old is determined to travel to Windsor today to prepare for the funeral of daughter Princess Margaret.
The Queen Mum has been confined to the Royal estate at Sandringham, Norfolk, for almost three months following a cold and cough.
Now a senior royal source has revealed: The simple truth is that she has not been eating and that is causing concern.
People in her household have tried to persuade her that she is not well enough to go to Windsor. But she is determined to say her last farewells to Princess Margaret.
She is physically weak, but her spirit is very strong.
That was clearly demonstrated by yesterdays fall.
The Queen Mum wanted to prove she was fit enough to attend tomorrows funeral of Margaret, 71, at St Georges Chapel, Windsor.
She had been practising getting up and down from her chair. Her maid and footman in the next room heard her fall.
They called Ian Campbell, Royal doctor at Sandringham, who raced to the estate in his car with light flashing.
Paramedics and a resuscitation unit from Norfolk Ambulance followed. But the wound just needed dressing.
A royal source said: She was trying to prove to herself she will be able to go through what will be a major ordeal.
It is still not known if the Queen Mother will travel to Windsor by road or by helicopter.
A car trip takes three hours. But she may not be strong enough to get into a helicopter. Despite the accident, her spokesman said yesterday: There is no change to her plans.

'Tis a terrible thing to have to show at your childs funeral when you are in the process of dying yourself.
Just like London during the blitz, she's not going to start wobbling now..

She will be watching something that will be taking place for herself in a matter of weeks. How errie...I would lose it right then and there.

When it comes to our country, I stand staunchly behind our Republic. However, when it comes to my opinion on Britain, I'm a conservative royalist. Even though the monarchy has little effect on any laws, it provides an element of stability to a government with a wildly powerful Parliament.
That said, losing the Queen Mum would be a tragedy. She is the most popular figure in the royal family, and her death would be detrimental to both the psyche of the family and the monarchy overall. The air of respectability that the family had as late as 11-12 years ago no longer exists, and the death of the Queen Mum would deal another massive blow.

Well, I am sad for her, and I understand many are, too (got a brother over there). But politically, I guess I never "got it" about them (maybe because they aren't "politcal" figures???). Not knocking them (Queens, royalty, etc), I just am not up on their history (like I probably could/would/should be). It's just different I guess. And that's okay.

Prayers for the Queen Mum. What an inspiration she has been for her country.

Thanks, that explains it some more for me.

The Queen Mum is a dear old girl with a will of iron. She may live longer than anyone expects. She already has. But even without eating, some old people live for years if they are fed intravenously. As long as her mind is strong, she can go on and on and on. God bless her.

God Bless the Queen Mum.....she has always been my favorite Windsor....she was an inspiration during the blitz!
She has always put 'duty first'....can you imagine at 101 she is still has a sharp mind & spunky spirit!

God Bless the Queen Mother. After having to bury a parent I can't even fathom having to bury a child.
