dumb move if true. It looks petty and an attempt to shift the focus from Enron. Besides, they had their chance MONTHS ago.

It would be petty if they investigated immediately when they got in office. One of the first things GWB did was a tax break, then the terrorist attack. Besides, I don't doubt they have been gathering evidence and data all this time. Do you honestly believe they could announce this if they didn't have a leg to stand on? The most corrupt administration will be busted eventually.

The request for action on the Clinton vandalism charges prompted complaints from GAO chief David Walker, who told the News, "they want us to do more work than is even reasonable."
Well Chief Walker may need to hire some more help if he can't keep up with the work..... lol.

dumb move if true. It looks petty and an attempt to shift the focus from Enron. The source of this is the GAO. I don't trust most of the comments said by that agency.

You know I think the plan is to get both Hillary and Bill as Bush knows they are a threat to AMERICA and himself. He may of been willing to let it go before the rats tried to pull the smear of Bush and Cheney.

I think it is probably a "subtle" warning to the RATS that if they really WANT investigations, then they'll GET them - in SPADES. I think it is a good tactic to start with something "minor" as a warning that there are bigger and better things to come. There are a lot of Clinton's RATS looking over their shoulder wondering if and when the NEW Justice Department will start stalking them. SOON I hope!

Email your thoughts to Carville and McAuliffe, they will use them as talking points.

I agree with you 100%. In fact, did Pres. Bush
lie to us when he said, "...only a prank or two, but that's OK"? Is that their idea of being gracious??
I never did like "the new tone" ... you gotta be tough to be respected by your enemies!

Will the media report it? Bush is going after the Clintons... but it also makes the Clintons look bad. If federal agents come with search and seizure warrants to Hitlery's houses and Bill's libraryk, and they yell about it without the press having said a word about what was coming, won't they look like nuts?
Then maybe the press will talk about it for a few days, before the truth comes out that they're common thieves, and they'll cover it up again.

Apparently the investigation has been ongoing from the beginning, despite claims to the contrary, including lengthy interviews that predate the Enron fiasco. Ungar and Walker picked today to whine to their media buddies about it.

dumb move if true. It looks petty and an attempt to shift the focus from Enron. Besides, they had their chance MONTHS ago. Disagree.
This is a relatively gentle reminder to the Democrats that they live in glass houses, and should think twice about throwing stones.
Because he felt it would be too distracting, Bush made the strategic decision at the start of his administration to try to put the innumerable Clinton scandals to rest. He has been repaid by an unfounded and obvious Democrat witch hunt aimed at Vice President Cheney. Since the Democrats have proven they are willing to use any smear, no matter how untrue, to bring his administration down, he has nothing to lose by adding to the distraction.
If the message from this relatively small potatoes investigation does not get through, look for something more important to come up next. The Marc Rich pardon? Loral campaign contributions in exchange for sale of national secrets to China?
These are but two of the more obvious ones. It is, as we said in my old Air Force days, a target rich environment...

Absolutely. I hope this is another one of Newsmax's much-ado-about-nothing articles. Bush has won over the American people on his own merits. He does not neeed his Administration to trash the previous to make his look good.
People finally get it. Leave it alone.
To: KantianBurke
I knew somebody who would complain about Bush for not doing this earlier would find an excuse now to hate him still....you are the first on this thread. Welcome.

I agree completely. But this is Newsmax, which does not have the highest credibility rating in the world.

"they had their chance months ago"
What does that mean? Was there some kind of deadline?
The President tried to let them off the hook - because I think he knew how upset the Gore people were over the election. But, they are the ones who wanted an "apology"; why on earth they thought they deserved an apology is beyond me.

Oh, right, Like every attempt over the last ten years to hold the Clinton administration accountable to the laws that everyone else must live by-"It's just a partisan political attack-every body else vandalizes and loots the White House when they leave-the new occupants always spend millions of tax dollars redecorating anyway-it's petty of normal people to expect the Clintons to behave in a normal manner to, cain't we just move on?"
Maybe justice delayed, will turn into poetic justice this time, and the piper will be paid at last.
To: KantianBurke
Nice try, but you have failed miserably. By now even you must be aware that the Bush administration merely inherited the Enron fiasco. Enron was neck deep in its corrupt business dealings during the Clinton years. Billy Boy Clinton personally helped Enron get a very lucrative contract in India. It's gratifying to see this administration finally investigate the trashing of the White House by the losers and scumbags of the previous administration.
