Hillary Tongue-Tied as Schumer Blasts Bill

As much as she might want to fire back at her New York colleague Sen. Charles Schumer for insulting President Clinton yesterday, Hillary Clinton best bite her tongue.

Why? Because of an extraordinary pledge made during her Senate campaign that she'd follow Schumer's lead on all matters Jewish.

So it must have been particularly frustrating for Clinton to hear about her Schumer's address to New York's Central Synagogue Sunday, where he blasted her hubby as a terrorist enabler who for years coddled Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

According to the New York Post, Schumer actually had the temerity to tell the group that Mr. Clinton had failed to hold Arafat's "feet to the fire" as Palestinian sponsored terrorism against Israel continued throughout the 1990's.

And though he didn't mention it, New York's senior Senator couldn't have been too pleased with Arafat's frequent visits the Clinton White House - more than any other foreign leader (even if the PLO chief had to cool his heels every once in a while when the ex-prez was being Lewinskied.)

Yesterday Schumer sounded ecstatic those days were over.

"The Bush administration - they have done an incredible job," he told the breakfast gathering. "They're the first administration since Arafat became head of the PLO to say to Arafat, 'We are not going to deal with you until you end the violence.'"

"I am just so gratified that the president and the administration have taken this tough stand," he added.

So why isn't Hillary likely to respond?

It was Schumer's pledge that "she'll do exactly as I say" on Mideast issues that smoothed things over with New York's politically crucial Jewish voters - worried as they were over Mrs. Clinton's public embrace of Suha Arafat and her long history as a Palestinian sympathizer.

And just when that controversy seemed to subside, up popped several witnesses who recalled Hillary's 1974 tirade against a campaign aide whom she denounced as
"a f - - - ing Jew bastard."

She may be thinking the same thing about Sen. Schumer right now, but Hillary knows that one word from her colleague could rekindle all the old questions.

I don't know, Howlin ... as sickening as this may sound ... that looks like desire/lust to me.

Isn't Schumer up for reelection in 2004? He's just making sure he doesn't lose any votes. Campaign early, campaign often. (Or is that suck up early, suck up often?)

Well I'll be! If Schumer, a Leftist's Leftist, understands the true nature of Arafat and the PLO, what's the problem with our libertarian "friends" around here on FR?

NEW YORK CITY blacks and liberal Jews voted her in. I live in an upstate New York village - Pop. 548. While she and Lazio were campaigning all I saw in this village were "Lazio" signs outside homes and businesses. I never saw a "Hillary" sign - not once! Driving through other small communities throughout New York State it was the same. We can't compete with all the voters in New York City. Once elected to the Senate, I remember the first thing she pushed for was to dismantle the Electoral College.

Good points in your post. REgardless of the glee some express here, the sad truth is the jewish population just like the blacks will continue to vote Democratic. Makes one really wonder if they are truly loyal to Israel. They may praise President Bush now but just watch them vote...they will return to their liberal ways and forget what this administration is doing for Israel.

"Good to know Schumer is at least good for something - keeping the junior senator in line."

I wouldn't trust Schumer any farther than I could throw him. It's cool that he and Hillary are at odds, but when push comes to shove, Schumer will side with Hillary when it comes to opposing Republicans

Has anyone ever known the Junior Senator Clintoon from New York to ever keep her mouth shut? She must really want the presidency pretty darn bad. I wonder if the New York Jews, who were her swing vote, still support her in the same way post-911.

Schumer may not be "a complete schmuckhead," but it follows from Schumer's comments that the Jews who voted for the terrorist-enabling, Arafat-loving, Jew-hating clintons surely are. (And I speak as a Jew who was born and bred in New York City.)

A pal turns against Clinton

C former buddy of Bill Clinton has spoken out against his old pal a week before the ex-prez is to receive an honorary degree from Tel Aviv University. Wall Street wiz Michael Steinhardt is a former chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council and now heads the university's International Board of Governors. He helped Marc Rich get that controversial pardon. But Steinhardt, in Israel to promote his new memoir, "No Bull," said over the weekend Clinton's personal mistakes outweighed his political achievements, and he wasn't sure TAU should even give him the degree. A Clinton spokesperson said Steinhardt was entitled to his opinion, and noted the university was also dedicating the Clinton Center for American Studies at the same time. Things were frosty at a dinner given for Steinhardt by the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. "It was like a reunion of the Rich pardon team - former Prime Minister Ehud Barak along with [ex-MoMA curator, now Israel Museum CEO] James Snyder were in attendance," reports one eyewitness. "But it was sad to see even here, where Marc Rich has millions of dollars, he is a social pariah."

A Clinton spokesperson said Steinhardt was entitled to his opinion, and noted the university was also dedicating the Clinton Center for American Studies at the same time.

Buddy Death Report Raises More Questions Than It Answers
By MIA T

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y., Jan. 4 -- The clinton-PR-machine-generated report of the death of Buddy, the impeached ex-president's chocolate Labrador, raises more questions than it answers. The report states: "Buddy playfully took after a contractor leaving the Clinton home about noon and was struck by a sport utility vehicle on Route 117 at the bottom of Old House Lane...Neither Mr. Clinton nor Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton were [sic] home at the time. The only comment they will make on the matter is by way of a statement issued by Mrs. Clinton's office: 'My best memory is that I did not have any involvement in that death.'"

Buddy
1997-2002

The report fails to explain how Buddy was able to wrest from the strong arm of the Secret Service and negotiate the multimillion-dollar, taxpayer-financed retrofits that were installed to make the poorly located suburban house safe for the universally despised former first couple. The report also fails to include a timeline detailing the whereabouts of the clintons on the day of the death. The clinton report's indictment of a sport utility vehicle (SUV) has caused incipient whispers of a vast left-wing conspiracy and the ever-expanding list of dead adverse clinton witnesses to fill the Senate cloakroom.

Buddy was a 1997 'gift' from a 'benefactor' who subscribed to the notion: "If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog," particularly sage advice for a DC couple forever mired in scandal and antipathy. Whether Buddy also subscribed to that notion was questioned as recently as last January when he entangled himself in clinton's legs, dropping the impeached ex-president to the pavement; clinton insisted at the time that there was no malevolence involved, that they were simply playing a game of fetch. clinton refused to say who was doing the fetching. (see BILL & HILL & BUDDY & HELEN, Helen Thomas Syndrome: THE SYMPTOMS )

The White House reported that the clintons' first First Pet, Socks, a cat, "greeted the canine acquisition with a hiss previously reserved only for Ken Starr." Because Buddy remained Socks' nemesis throughout the clinton dog days, Socks was eventually exiled to Virginia, to the suburban home of Betty Currie, former clinton subornee and sex scheduler. At the time, clinton observed: "I made more progress in the Middle East than I did between Socks and Buddy." Retrospectively, it is clear that clinton's characterization was not correct.

Buddy web sites quickly exploded in cyberspace. (Socks web sites, too, he would add.) Mrs. clinton, a long-time adherent of synergistic exploitation, "authored" an instant book about three groups favored for exploitation by the clintons: dogs, cats and children. "Dear Socks, Dear Buddy: Kids' Letters to the First Pets" was published by the clintons' personal agitprop-and-money-laundering machine, Simon & Schuster. (see Is hillary clinton's $8M "book advance" a Peter-Principle artifact?)

Although Chappaqua locals share the national repugnance for the clintons, their feelings never spilled over to Buddy. "The big highlight for people was, 'I just saw Buddy,' never mind Mr. and Mrs. Clinton," said Christine Meyer, owner of Wags and Whiskers here.
