It is not an art museum.

Of course it is an ART museum, it goes to the very HEART of what government buildings are supposed to be about.

PEOPLE. EXCELLENCE. STANDARDS.

Works of art have always been present in public places such as this as a reminder of what we're shooting for.

Ashcroft is an idiot.

It's the totalitarian regimes who first do away with art - remove the humanity from the situation.

I reconsider, perhaps Ashcroft is not an idiot,

he may well be something worse.

Now the hyperbole is really going strong.

Seems to me Hilter was pretty keen on introducting all kinds of "heroic Nazi" art for the masses for propaganda value. If Ashcroft replaces the statues with a "neo-conservative" style of art (whatever that would be), then I might agree with you. I think he just doesn't like "art-deco" statues. Big deal!

"...to the very HEART of what government buildings are supposed to be about.

And, here I thought government buildings were about taxation and voter dependency. Silly me.

Must have lost sight of 'people, excellence, and standards' during the Clinton Administration.
