I agree the location sounds strange. If I were going to shoot myself over a business matter, I'd want to be damn sure my wife or family didn't find my body. So I would drive to the other side of town, at least.

If I were investigating, I'd want to know when he left his house and what he told his wife he was doing. Also, there is no description of the suicide note. Was it typed, or hand written? If typed, I'd want to know what computer or printer it came from. But then, I'm the curious type. The JP in this town doesn't seem very curious.

The ME (JP's don't rule on causes of death in Texas) isn't curious about the cause because he KNOWS the cause.

He also knows his office will be scrutinized. He wouldn't rule as he did, as quickly as he did, unless his ruling will withstand investigation.

Overanalyzing? If someone is in the frame of mind to kill themselves, they often aren't thinking rationally or strategically. Its just as likely that he might have been driving, heard something on the radio or taken a cell call that convinced him that there was no way out. So he pulls over right then and there and uses the gun. Its Texas, a gun in the car certainly doesn't by itself indicate a consideration of suicide. Maybe he was contemplating how was he ever going to explain this to his kids, or what it would be like to be the designated soap picker upper right down the road there at the penal colony. So the location of the car may not mean a thing in determining if foul play was involved.

I ASSURE you that the PCT 4 JP, Jim Richards is a damn fool. I have told him so, to his face, in public, several times......just hope I don't get a ticket in his area!
