Please pray for her, she is not doing well. I am afraid she will not live through the night. We are very worried for her.

We thought it was constipation with our cat too; we took her to the vet last week to get her an enema; at the end o the day we went to the vet and he said sh needed another one, should we give it to her ourselves or should we leave her there for the night? he asked. We looked at each other (me and my husband) and said, "You do it...we'll pick her up in the morning."

I woke up that next morning with my husband shaking me awake saying, "Maia died during the night.." The vet did an autopsy and found it was cancer. And I can't believe I left her to die in that cold tub the vet had her in to give the enema. I just kills me.

Don Joe,
I'm pulling for you, and I'm pulling for your cat. It hurts to lose a friend like that, I still go to tears when I think about losing my dog Sweets so many years ago. Take care, partner.

As I am owned by a cat who suffers from gran-mal-type epileptic seizures (which are as scary to watch as all get-out), you won't get any jokes from me. Am hoping for the best for you.

I feel soooo bad for you. It's kinda late in this thread but I pulled my 16-year-old through this summer . . . she had a combination of asthma, infected ears and dirty teeth . . . pulled through the teeth cleaning ok but still went downhill. Turned out after I don't know how many emergency trips to the vet for rehydration that it was the antibiotic - clavamox - that was messing her up . . . and her liver count went sky high. couldn't afford any more treatment.

Anyway, I forced liquids into her with an eyedropper . . . syringe vet gave me didn't work very well. Bought her baby food meat and she started eating off the spoon lying down . . .that did the trick. Believe me I tried everything. That special vet food, cooked liver, fish, raw hamburger, evaporated milk.

I think you should NOT give her condensed milk. Use evaporated milk. Condensed milk has lots of sugar in it. Maybe you meant evap milk.

Now I cherish every day I have her. My heart sure goes out to you over your precious kitty.

We've got four and a new puppy. We'd be devastated if any of our best friends left us. Bless you and hoping for the best for your friend.

You did what you believed was best for her, don't let yourself get eaten up with guilt. I would have made the same decision, because I know how the little imps know they will get away with stuff with their families that they'd never pull with the vet. I've pretty much given up trying to clip claws because it would take five of me to hold the guy down and clip them, but at the vet's, he'll just sit there and accept his fate. :)

I've got similar stuff gnawing at me, like I should have taken the effort to catch her sooner, maybe she'd have been stronger if she hadn't have spent two winters outside living in the barn. (She was very good at not being caught. If you picked her up, she'd go nuts as soon as you started walking, and she'd rip your hand open. My father inlaw didn't believe it because she was such a tiny timid cat, so he tried, and it took over a month for the wounds to heal, literally.) And then I think I should have pushed the vet harder -- a week or two ago, when she was stable, but very thin, we called the vet to ask about prednisone to try to build her up. They said they thought it was FIP and that the prednisone would be a lost cause. Now, they think it'll help, but I keep thinking that maybe if she got it earlier, she wouldn't have gone downhill so much. I'll never know.

Remember, if you had taken her home, and she died there, you'd have the same kind of feelings, but in reverse, "I should have left her at the vet, maybe she'd still be alive." You do what you can, you grit your teeth, and go on. The world is filled with wonderful but "unwanted" cats. Take another one in, not to make up for the baby you lost -- nothing can do that -- but to make life better for another rejected orphan. You will both benefit.

I believe that we will see our pets in heaven, and that God is comforting them now as they wait for us. Jesus talked about how God watches even the sparrows. I can't accept that He doesn't care about the little companions He created for us.

It can be a nasty, cold world, and people can backstab and betray, but I've found that dogs and cats are the truest friends there are. Their loyalty is boundless, and they earn every bit of affection they get in return, and then some.

To everyone out there, I am real proud of the way you have all handled this. No ridicule only compassion. Good job. It shows a line of maturity I'd not have bet on. I am very pleased at everyones attitude. Thanks.

I am still praying for your sweet kittie. We feel so helpless when our animals are ill. After the vet's treatment the best thing we can do is pray. I always pray with my own cat in my lap and just hug him pet him and I think he knows what I am doing. Maybe that's part of the cat telepathic network.

Prayers for you and your pet!

My two local grandaughters got their puppy today and brought her by our apartment to show her off.

She is an 8 week old mostly black lab with some white on her chest and the tips of her paws.
Just an adorable furry ball that liked to nestly in your arms.

I am partial to dogs but my dad always had to have a cat around.
They were - of course - king of the walk -- since they had the ear of the main man!!!

That's interesting, I lost my 20 year old cat two years ago, too. Got her when I was 5. I was very sad to see her go. Many good memories, and a few not so good : she tried to bite my eye out when I was 7. I probably deserved it.

We rescued a litter of kitties in 1983.

I just caught 3 from a litter somebody dropped off at a local grocery store. Took me about 2 months to get them to where they would come to me to be fed while I was still there. I caught the orange one first as she was the tamest, and expected to catch the black one next. I didn't. Instead I caught the grey one that was as wild as could be. I brought her home and put her in the bathroom with her now tame orange sister, and she is still scared to death. I can catch her and touch her with no problem, but she doesn't seem to be eating. I have her in there now all alone with a open can of beef cat food, and the orange kitten is out here with my other two cats, but hidden under the couch. If the meaty cat food isn't eaten by morning,I'm going to have to take her to the vet, which is sure to stress her out even more. I don't know what the answer is to this. I've never had to face anything like it. She is a perfectly healthy cat.

Oh yeah,I caught the black kitten in one of animal control's wire cat cages about 4 days ago,and when I got home the cage was empty. She figured out how to open the door and got out. I was afraid she had jumped out the back of my truck while I was running 60MPH on the way home, but there she was at the Food Lion tonight with no limp and no sign of injury. I have no idea where she had been since Thursday night. I went every night since then to see if she was there, and tonight would have been my last attempt. When I got out of my truck at the rear of the store, here she comes out of the tall grass, meowing for food. I suspect I'm going to have trouble getting her to go into a capture cage again.
