Our overseas trade was destroyed, and our national capitol torched. We make much of the frigate actions, because they are the only bright spot on an otherwise pathetic naval situation. We did NOT accomplish any of our national objectives from when we declared war--we did not grab a good chunk of Canada as we had planned, and indeed the war ended with a return to the status quo ante that we went to war to overturn in the first place!
