Only 11 nuclear bombs to 'take out' Canada
The Ottawa Citizen ^ | 7 January 2002 | David Pugliese

Computer simulation aims to raise questions about huge stockpiles of nuclear warheads.

A new computer program developed for nuclear weapons researchers in the U.S. probably won't give Canadians much of a sense of security in these days of global tension and uncertainty. The software simulated the destruction of Canada with as few as 11 nuclear warheads.

the status quo ante that we went to war to overturn in the first place

My A$$....

Scott beat them with Regulars and Jackson beat them with Militia and swamp pirates

After Waterloo they could have come back, but they didn't!

WE WON .... BIG TIME!

Any questions?

Only 11? Cool. But I only advocate a first strike if we enter another ice age.

My question is, why'd they model Canada in the first place? I don't think we've waved a musket at them since the War of 1812. Talk about holding a grudge...>>>>>>>> HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"The Canucks claim to have won the War of 1812."

Are we getting ready to show them the error of their ways? You just don't p.o. our man Bush and expect to get away with it.

"Sure, they burned D.C. to the ground...but what have they done for us lately?"

Ok, Canucks. Lets talk a deal. You burn D.C. to the ground again, and we won't nuke you. How about it?

"you may be right, but I can travel anywhere in the world with a maple leaf button in my lapel and not have to worry about getting my nuts shot off."

Don't you have to have some first? Just kidding.

"Two for the US: Washington DC and New York. It would cripple our government and our financial center."

I wonder if that is true. I suppose that taking out D.C. when Congress is in session would take out the top of the government. But I wonder just what would happen in that scenario. I can't believe that planning has not been done for the country to survive a nuclear hit, especially if only New York and D.C. are taken out.

"I'd be more interested in knowing how many to do the number on Mexico. ;-)"

Mexico City would do it. The country is normally on the verge of revolution anyway.

A new computer program has determined that it would take only eleven nuclear missiles to

Ahem...pssst.....about 50% of Canadian companies are owned by Americans...so you'd be kind of, ah, shooting yourself in the foot so to speak. Pass it on before you all get too excited. You wouldn't want to put the missus out of work, would you? Just a tip ;-)

The bombs we put on Japan were like small firecrackers compared to what we have now. The thought of a nuclear war is quite terrifying. Civilization as we know it will end. It would be a very6 major castrophe.

with a country with an entire population of what? 20 Million if that, why would anyone think it would take more that that? I am shocked the number wasn't single digits.

I do not disagree. I was just referring to the 11 warheads in the kilo-tonnage range that was stated in the original article.
