Can we or can we not roll up in a huge truck and use hydraulics to force a .5" steel blade 8' into the ground?

You are missing the point..

This is supposed to allow the cops to come and "knock" (yeah, I know its a lost concept) on your door.. rather than bashing it in and sticking a gun in your face..

It's a mayberry thing.. think about it like that..

Instead it would be more like.. (knock, knock.... Yes?)

"Hey.. I am the sherrif... I come here looking fer some drugs.. So, can I look around a bit, or do I need a Warrant?"

AND, ram a blade.. or some type of a seperator through a PVC or CLAY Sever Pipe in about a minute?

It's a completely unnecessary complication, and there's a much easier way: just run a probe to where the sewer line exits to the main. City crews run sewer probes all the time -- we once had them run their "sewer cam" up our pipe to see if the line was broken (no, it wasn't).

Of course, the whole idea is completely useless in multi-unit dwellings.

Can I, slide up in a truck.. of your own design.. No limits except those imposed by technology.. AND, ram a blade.. or some type of a seperator through a PVC or CLAY Sever Pipe in about a minute?

IMHO, the answer is yes. But there are other considerations. Ditches for sewer lines are dug by the contrator with a backhow- a ditch 2-3 feet wide. If you plunge your blade into the softer dirt of this ditch, and it then runs into the harder unexcavated side wall of the original ditch, your blade will most likely be badly bent. Count on that happening sooner or later. Also, many plumbing contractors use this same ditch for the water service line and the gas service line too, depending on how economical it is according to where the city service connection for that lot is. You'll certainly bust some other lines sooner or later.

Also IMHO, the blade capable of this will have to be a pile driver type, with each successive hit driving it say a foot or so into the ground. Probably compressed air driven, and almost certainly loud as heck.

Have fun.

This may sound crazy, but I've been thinking along the same line "on the back burner" today. How do we minimize the need for "no knock" search warrants? I think we need to step back and take a wider look at the problem.

My solution is this: If the police suspect that there is major illegal drug activity at a residential location, what they do is get a warrant, then wait until the middle of the night but late enough so that even most druggies are asleep, like maybe 4 AM. Just so it's still mostly dark. Then simultaneously (and quietly) shut off the electricity, gas (if any), and water. Then announce by bullhorn and allow the people inside a (short) chance to come out peacefully. If they try to flush the evidence, they only get one flush with the water in the tank, and that isn't enough to wash everything all the way to the main sewer line. (Trust me, I've learned this the hard way with sewage problems.) They can't even run the faucet. Plus, with the lights out, the druggies won't be able to find all of it quickly. Unless they only have a very tiny amount, there will be lots of evidence. If the police have to come in to roust them out, they will have the advantage of being able to control their spotlights and illuminate what they like, then when things are in hand, they can turn the lights back on.

In my mind, this idea certainly tops smashing down the door and hoping for the best. It minimizes the chance of killing an innocent victim at the wrong house while preserving most of the evidence even in the worst case.

Why bust down the door and shake guns in peoples faces to be sure they can't "flush" the stash..
Just catch it a few feet downriver..
It's the perfect answer to the "drug war" problem.

You think too small. Why not just outlaw private toilets?
All citizens must use the government monitored facilities.

Look, I am nearly as Libertarian as you are..

BUT, if there were some way to keep the cops arresting the bad guy's and being the polite to the good guys.. Why shouldn't we do it?

I mean honestly.. the current alternative is a "Warning Shot" through your chest..

Rustin.. You are making this too easy ya know..

Sorry if I confused you. That's a consistent problem with us architects; when confronted with the impossible, we simply change the parameters.

In that same vein, I have a suggestion. Instead of flushing it down into the sanitary sewer, why don't you flush it UP (with compressed air) into your vent stack (just imagine how your deposit gets to the teller at the drive-through window of your bank)? Then you can retrieve your stash by going onto your roof with a bent coat hanger. Its a lot cleaner and will fool the narcs just as much!

Your response, please.

You fail- you forgot all about the thirteen pit bulls sleeping all over the yard. You'd walk into the back yard where the utility meters are, turn on your flash light, and get jumped low from three directions. Bye-bye.

Yes, an excellent observation..

The point of this thread is alternatives to racing in and waving guns in peoples faces.. Something the Libertines always bitch about.

So, by all means.. Alternatives are welcome..
