THE folks at Msnbc are talking to former Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Alan Keyes about hosting a 10 p.m. show up against Fox News' new hire, Greta Van Susteren. Meanwhile, Van Susteren, a lawyer before her O.J. Simpson commentary turned her into a CNN star, reportedly has penned an eight-page memo detailing CNN's demerits. She plans to keep the document secret as long as CNN doesn't try to paint her as an ungrateful traitor.

If he actually managed to get elected, he'd have a heck of a time dealing with that evil Congress, wouldn't he? One good thing, we wouldn't have to worry about any new laws for 4 years -- Keyes wouldn't be able to get any passed, and he wouldn't sign any THEY passed!

...and this is a BAD situation?

A 2/3 vote would overide any Keyes veto. The founding fathers were brilliant. Even Keyes can't compare.

Can anyone confirm that Greta and her husband are Scientologists? I apologize if this has already been discussed in this long thread.

"I knew they roomed in college, Torie....but that was long ago...and being roomies don't make you soul mates in politics. LOL"

No, college roomates does not. However, Kristol ran Keyes 1988 Senate campaign......now, that's a little closer political soul mate, isn't it?

Actually I've been working on a number of state issues here in Ohio (like teaching the founding documents in high school).

That is, myself and about fifty other Keyes supporters. The good Doctor has even volunteered his time by doing local radio interviews on the issue.

I for one have seen Dr. Keyes and many Keyes2000 folks getting busy on many issues. I work with them every day!

Howlin, that's a doozy, and you know it...you're way over the line once again. And here I thought you were gonna make a resolution to be nice this year.

Uh, you might just want to read post #368 with the copy of the announcement from 10/22/2000

John Thune for Senate, P.O. Box 516, Sioux Falls, SD 57101

Congressman Thune is a wonderful Christian gentleman...he's already polling 7 points ahead of Daschle's stooge, Tim Johnson, the incumbent.

This race is the key to cutting the legs from under Little TommyBoy for '04..

You can learn more, or lend a hand, by emailing me at ShortDaschle04@aol.com

Does it make any difference where he was or what he was doing? Maybe vacationing some? Maybe getting a kid ready for college some? Maybe trying to work on finishing up the book he was writing so he'd have more $$$$ coming in? Maybe finishing up speechmaking he had committed to? Maybe figuring out how he could talk to supporters about supporting Bush? Maybe campaigning for other candidates as well?

Makes no difference to me, nor should it have mattered to any Keyes supporters, when Keyes endorsed or said to vote for Bush....he could have told me, begged me, offered to pay me to, or whatever....even way back on the day GW filed papers to run that I should vote for GW....and I never would have....because Bush stands for too much I'm against.

They might both diss Bush from time to time, but for very different reasons usually.

I always thougt it was possible that it was a "good cop" / "bad cop" kind of thing. Each of them peel away opposite sides of the Republican party and ultimately weaken the numbers of the party itself.

If one's goal was to benefit the opposition while pretending to be a disillusioned loyalist, the Kristol/Keyes tag team would be a perfect scam. Just a thought ???????

Would you be so kind as to point out ONE, just ONE, of ANY of those supportive posts by Keyes' people for George W. Bush, president of the United States?

Well I was going to link to hundreds of posts I made to A J Armitage's rants against the War on Terror, against President Bush, and against John Ashcroft. But I see that A J is no longer with us (not too surprised). That was my main effort, and I am too tired to do more research on this now. Maybe I will try the cache's on Google, looking for A J and me on www.freerepublic.com, tomorrow, should this unfortunate thread still be with us.

I am convinced that the sole purpose of Keyes getting this program is to further the Bush-bashing. Keyes is smart enough to cloak it in his "principles" but I will stake cash money on the premise that no matter what Bush proposes, Keyes will argue the opposite.

How about "restoring honor and decency to the White House," which he has done.
He did NOT campaign on a pledge to prosecute the Clintons.
You will not find that anywhere in his campaign speeches or writings.
He wanted to remove the poison of the Clinton years from the public discourse.

Now, you can disagree with him about whether or not he should prosecute
(I go back and forth sometimes about this myself)
but he never said he would do so.

"he never said he would do so"
is the reason that I didn't support him
in the Republican primaries.

"he never said he would do so"
is the reason that I didn't vote for him
in the general election.

He didn't investigate
the treasonous activities
of the Clinton administration,
which is why I consider him
to be nothing but a politician,
with no principles
that extend past the next vote.

He's no better than Clinton.
They're two of a kind.

I'd wager the same.

Great work you're doing in Ohio, my friend...it is very important that the next generation finally gets a chance to understand the principles that undergird our free republic.

Good to see you are still at the front of the battle lines.

Regards...EV

I didn't care if he even endorsed Bush -- what bugs me is the fact that we kept getting told keyes endorsed Bush way before he actually did. As for what he was doing, didn't care about that either. I just don't like the misrepresentation I have seen on here about how much keyes supported Pres Bush which is one thing I think we can all agree on -- he didn't support him hardly at all and very late in the general election when he eventually endorsed him!

I would think you would tire of trotting out the Keyes/Kristol conspiracy theory...there's a war on, we need to save the tinfoil for the scrap drives, ya know?
