... not a very good endorsement of Bryan that, not even from the blind Senator. In 1908, Democrats hated Roosevelt much more than they hated Taft. That reflects well upon Roosevelt (but says nothing of Taft). By 1912, Democrats hated Taft equally as they hated Roosevelt. That reflects well upon both Taft and Roosevelt.

No, you've misunderstood. "Alliterative" does not mean endorsement. It means that word after word in a sentence starts with the same letter or sound.

I was pointing out that an acclaimed "writer" in the form of Gore Vidal clearly didn't understand that concept. In other words, I was using Gore Vidal's own words to illustrate that he's a lousy writer who doesn't even understand the basic concepts of composition.
