Mornin' from the winter wonderland of Columbia, SC!

We have about 2-3" on the ground with a heavy mixture of ice in with it, temp is 29 F. We're supposed to get grazed by the second system that's dropping snow on Georgia now, and get another inch or so plus more ice. From what I can tell, traffic seems to be moving reasonably well on the major road near where I live (though the apartment parking lot is a mess!). The radio said this morning that over 900 accidents were reported in SC in a 12-hour span yesterday, compared to 70 on a normal day.

I'm still hoping my employer closes all day, right now we're going in at noon and I don't want my two-wheel-drive pickup out on the road if we're going to get more snow. I'd rather be a wuss and curl up in my apartment with my two computers and Free Republic. :) Y'all stay safe and stay warm.

Well it's a beautiful morning in Greensboro with 4-6 inches from the overnight snow. Unfortunately we received a layer of sleet and ice first, so the roads are somewhat hazardous. It's still coming down and more snow is expected through the AM. I can't wait to take a long walk today!!!

We're right down the road from you, in Virginia Beach. We were getting snow, but then it turned to sleet. Now it's snow again. Our dogs had never seen snow and just love it. We've got a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a lab mix.

Ha, no such luck, LBGA. MadelineZapeezda and I are in the Northern Panhandle, near Pittsburgh, and will escape this storm, although Monday is supposed to be interesting.

Howlin and Teacup - please be careful and don't go out unless absolutely necessary.

I didn't mention it in my previous post, but my children just returned from four days of skiing in Deer Valley, Utah. They were treated to lessons and nearly two feet of snow by my younger sister who has a winter home there. So I imagine that the 1/2" of snow blanketing our landscape this morning was chicken feed to them. Yet my husband and I spent the better part of our morning looking out every window in the house. We know who the real kids in our household are!

Mornin' from the winter wonderland of Columbia, SC! I was in Columbia, SC. last week and love it! I didn't like the traffic jam which went on for miles, though! We hit the snow in Ga. coming home yesterday and a man from Alabama smacked my car hard because he wasn't used to snow. We had to tie the trunk down and scoop up the glass off the road. I'm sore literally and otherwise this morning. I did notice a few people taking pictures. (Being from Ohio, I didn't see the beauty the locals saw). I think I heard on the radio that all government offices in Atlanta was closed today. How lucky for them! We have had as much as eight inches with a coating of ice and still are expected to show up. Of course, we, in Ohio, are usually prepared since it is a normalcy around here in winter.

Good morning all.

I am at work, but it took me 1-1/2 hr. to make a drive that normally takes 30 min.
This was primarily due to one lane of US 64 and US 301 being open in each direction, and the slow drivers in the front of the line holding everyone else up.
The roads here aren't too bad as long as you drive about 35-40 mph.

I told Mrs. CD that I would bet her that a certain slacker in my office would not be here.
Of course, she isn't here. She only lives about 5 miles away, so I guess she wasn't able to rouse her sled dogs for such an arduous trek.
Most of the other people who didn't show up were either being a wuss about driving or just didn't want to work.

On another note, my daughter got to see snow for the first time and is very excited.
Mrs. CD is also excited, since she grew up in South Africa and didn't see much snow until moving to the States.

I am considerably less enthused.
Unless we get some SIGNIFICANT snow (i.e., > 2 feet), it's just a nuisance to me.

FRegards,
CD

Beautiful picture.

Snow is so pretty (especially when you can stay at home by the wood stove).
