A quick look out my front door will confirm that this country is doing very well and that there is hope for our future because of all of the good people who make up this country. A quick look out of my front door in southern California confirms that this is fast becoming the third world country that Buchanan describes. All of you pro-illegal immigration people should take a trip to California and see for yourselves. The illegals are packed like sardines in a can here in CA, and we are paying for their medical care, their schooling, their food stamps, their welfare checks and everything else while they send their money to Mexico. Meanwhile we watch our towns turning into Tijuana clones.
I don't see this as good for America, and I've heard all the arguments.

Regarding your comments: Michelle Malkin wrote in The Washington Times (Jan. 1) "Just before Christmas the Arizona state Legilature approved nearly $3 million in public funds to cover kidney dialysis treatment and cancer chemotherapy for illegal aliens. Meanwhile, many indigent senior citizens -- American citizens -- must abide by stricter limits, fewer choices, and rising prices on everything from earpieces to walkers to pain medication . . ."

Have you lived in any of the border counties lately or cities of extremely high immigration? You won't hear much English spoken anymore ---especially in every housing project around here it's not spoken at all.

Uh...OK. But in the process of this wild safari tour through his perceptions of blacks, Mexican immigrants, and Israel, he managed to disqualify himself from viable political life. That was stupid and unnecessary. He needs to work on self-control. The "West" may, in fact, collapse as described. Indeed, it has in certain areas. But such events do not justify political stupidity. All of these issues he has been obsessed with could have been addressed without the fiery rhetoric, hyperbole, and weird detours rehashing Hitler's career, yes? Pat's jihad has not been, shall we say, entirely successful.

How exactly is Buchanan a nazi?Oh, didn't you know? Everyone who is against, or speaks out against the invasion of millions of criminal illegal aliens is a nazi. This is what makes Buchanan a nazi. See, very simple.

Some facts for the race-obsessed.
The Census 2000 numbers show that the country is presently 69% non-hispanic white. However, this figure includes millions of non-Europeans (North Africans, Middle Easterners et al) bringing down the European derived American population to around 64-65%. I don't have the exact numbers but I would estimate that almost half of the children born in the country are not exclusively European (the percentage of interracial marriages is also increasing ). What this means is that no change in our immigration policy is going to change the fact that people with a exclusively European heritage are going to become a minority in this country.

Blade is on the money, there's a very big differences between the "immigration" of the 1800's and today. The "immigration" of today- if unchecked will be one of the last nails in the coffin of the Republic.

I suggest you remove the rose-colored glasses then get out and see the reality of illegal immigration. Check out sites like www.americanpatrol.com to see what's not being reported by our mainstream "news" sources. What we're witnessing is nothing less than cultural and national suicide on a monumental scale.

I will repeat this for you:
Buchanan is a bitter pill and one that the "DC" crowd cannot afford to have on the stage.

All of you pro-illegal immigration people should take a trip to California and see for yourselves. That's what makes for much of the difference of opinion because in some parts of the country, people see a very few illegals and all are working. There are high concentrations in other areas, often in areas of very high unemployment where there are no jobs for citizens or illegals but still they come and concentrate in those areas. There is nothing at all requiring them to even move to areas where their labor is needed.

I read the article and am responding to it. You read the article and changed the subject, or shall I say stoled it. Typical of those who can't handle the truth.
Changed the subject? Hardly. I was speaking to Buchanan's lack of qualification for higher office and the level of debate that he's engaging in. That is highly relevant.
Did you know Lanny is a lawyer and Pat is not?
Uuhhhhh, so what?
Did you know Steffy never wrote a book, was syndicated and never ran for any office? He like Kokie and Sam are paid mouthpieces for the neocon leaning media. Come on, get your feet on the ground.
I don't consider being a mouthpiece a qualification for elected office. So where's the inconsistency?
To: lawdog
there's a very big differences between the "immigration" of the 1800's and today. The immigration proponents failure to acknowledge these differences can only be explained by ignorance or dishonesty.

Particularly the little guy. Well, perhaps you're just a young guy who can't remember the days when the 'little guys' weren't rotten at all, but lived mostly by the Golden Rule. And perhaps too many of today's little guys have over-indulged their brains with the depravity that pours out of hollywood and attaches itself to the public mind, like slime. We've become a nation of non-thinking hulks who welcome the new world disorder and the death of the west with open arms.
To: 11th Earl of Mar
Ezola Foster would be a better vice president than Gore was and Lieberman hoped to be. There's no comparison.
But if Pat hadn't been demonized by the 'win at all cost crowd', more choices would have been available.
But that's another arguement. Let's continue the discussion of what the article was about. Namely, 'death of the west'.

My observation also. I've lived in Southern California for 41 years.
