Bin Laden: Attack on US to Stop Support for Israel

LONDON (Reuters) - Osama bin Laden (news - web sites), the world's most wanted man, said on a video broadcast by al-Jazeera satellite television on Wednesday that the September 11 suicide attacks were intended to stop U.S. support for Israel.

``Our terrorism against the United States is worthy of praise to deter the oppressor so that America stop its support for Israel, which is killing our children,'' the bearded, Saudi-born fugitive said.

He added that the tape was being issued to mark about three months since the attacks on New York and Washington and two months after the United States began its bombing of Afghan targets.

The remarks indicated the tape was recorded in early to mid December.

Looking tired but calm, bin Laden was dressed in a clean, camouflage-patterned combat jacket. He sat against a cloth or canvas screen, his Russian-designed submachinegun propped beside him. There was no indication where he was when he recorded the video.

Oh, please. He is just mitigating his damages. His group is already banned in all muslim states, and the only thing he can do to boost his image with them is to blame Israel. Funny how a year ago he made no mention of Israel.

OBL has adopted the pro-Palestinian cause in the last year or two, just like Saddam uses it when it suits his purposes. This seems like same old, same old--except he's probably using the video to trigger another of his dormant cells.

It is good news that OBL is claiming responsibility -- it will no longer be possible for anyone to avoid choosing sides.

Are you drunk? Saddam claimed the same thing 6 months after he invaded Kuwait for crying out loud; but it was his claims were transparent. Its just a tactic to get the dumbed down Arab street riled up. The tape of Bin Laden at his buddies home, where he is in his own element, clearly shows this had nothing to with Isreal, because he never mentioned them.

it would have been a lot simpler and a lot of palestinian kids and american adults would still be alive if he'd focused on teaching palestinian kids not to throw rocks at men with guns. of course, cause and effect is a difficult concept for many arabs to grasp.

This tape is a hoax. Everybody knows Osama had nothing to do with the September 11th attacks, and even if he did America should just grow up and move on. </sarcasm>
