Agree?: Rudy's public adultery & abortion advocacy disqualify him as a hero.

Just want to see what people think.

Rudy has been a "good leader" in the wake of 9-11. Men with shoddy morals can be "good leaders" - but is a leader really good if he fails to show remorse for his evil acts (abortion support and public adultery)? Is a man really a good leader if he publicly advocates serial killing of preborn babies? If he publicly parades his mistress before the cameras? If he never publicly expresses remorse about these two hugely important moral errors.

I acknowledge no heat at the other thread you mention, by the way.

Of course you don't. You're clueless.

I long for the day when adultery, sodomy, fornication, and promoting immorality return to being captial offenses. Add attempting to get or adding in an abortion as well.

Wow! And the difference between you and the Taliban is......?

What happened is that people forgave Rudy for his past mistakes in the wake of his courageous, exemplary handling of the 9/11 tragedy. For victory & freedom!!!

I have to disagree absolutely. It is not our place to forgive Rudy. His wife and children are the only ones who can forgive him. To think otherwise is to imply we have the right to act for other people. Regardless, pennance requires the admission of guilt, and seeking of forgiveness. I don't know that Rudy did either. So I don't know that even his wife and children can forgive him as of yet.

I believe you just demonstrated the definition of a libertarian from the other thread: emotionally immature male.

I bet you stuck your tongue out at me, too.

Catspaw is still mad that I publicly invited people to discuss what I wanted to discuss. Double boo hoo.

I guess I can conclude you would question a fireman about his marital fidelity and his views about abortion before allowing him to rescue your family from a burning house?

Nancy Reagan is Ronald's second wife.

And your point would be? I was merely answering a question about Rudy taking on a new wife. And seeing as how he's CAHTHOLIC, it is against Catholic law for him to get divorced without an anullment. I never said it diminished him as a leader. I think your post would best be directed at somebody else.

You don't have a monopoly on what is moral.

No the BIBLE, written by God does. We are a country based on Godly values and the Ten Commandments, love it or leave it.

No the BIBLE, written by God does.

That is your opinion.

We are a country based on Godly values and the Ten Commandments, love it or leave it.

We are a country based on individual liberty, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Love it or leave it.

If he is a homosexual then he is no hero. Homosexuals are lower than pond scum. They can never qualify for the title hero, no matter what they do.

Look, I disagree with homosexuality and think it is absolutely disgusting but your statement is ludicrous. What if a homo pulled you out of a burning house or pulled you from a wrecked car. You wouldn't think he was a hero.

That whole episode was likely calculated as a political maneuver.

"Judging someone" is defined as either
1) deciding whether they are going to go to Heaven or to hell, or
2) opining what their motive was.

You, in the above statement, have just declared what you think his motive was. You've committed a sin.

Best you end this thread before you get any deeper.

Rudy is only a freaking mayor, for crying out loud...in the matter of 9/11, his adultery and, especially, abortion advocacy are entirely irrelevant. What about all the police and firemen who have pro-abortion stances or who might have cheated on their wives? Does that disqualify them from being heroes? Again, I'm not jumping on the Rudy bandwagon, but leave the guy alone about his adultery and abortion position. If he were to run for president, then you might have a beef.

Thank you for your measured response. Yes, I agree with you about the "judge not". I simply think that some folks get too involved finding fault with other preople's private lives and should tend to thier own... Rudy's magnificent management of the situation after the attack was masterful and impressive. In a world where we have had few heros he and the NYCFD and the NYCPD members are welcome heros.

I was judging the public-nature of the act.

It was sinful behavior regardless of whether it was public, and his motive makes no difference. Adultery is adultery. Christians are called to judge such acts. It is judging someone to damnation that is forbidden - something I have not done. It is God's work to call sin by its name.

NB: my very first post on this thread acknowledges the success of Rudy's leadership after 9-11.
