EL PASO, Texas (AP) - A Continental Airlines flight from Houston to Los Angeles was diverted to El Paso on Tuesday because of two unruly passengers, officials said. Flight 627 left Houston at 11:50 a.m. and landed in El Paso at 1:43 p.m., said Roland Herwig of the Federal Aviation Administration.
"There were actually two unruly passengers on board the aircraft and as a precautionary measure the plane was diverted to El Paso," Continental spokeswoman Julie King said.
King said the 757 resumed its flight to Los Angeles shortly after it landed.
She said she had no further details, and there were no immediate reports of any injuries.
Officials the El Paso International Airport, including the airport police department, did not return telephone calls placed by The Associated Press. AP-ES-12-25-01 1553EST
Glad the 2 major holidays are done with. One with in laws (as the outlaw)..the other with my family which can sometimes be just as painful.
A few years ago, I thought the other half would be thrown off the plane because of a fight we were having. Some people can't control emotion...and it's sad.
Amen!
Thankfully, we did.
And if they are middle eastern types there will be at least 4 posters claiming that Israeli counterintelligence hired them...
You're on your own Bubba. Sky marshalls have the responsibility of real cops - NONE - if they fail, who ya gonna sue?
Someone gets out of line - jump'em and kick them in the kidneys ASAP.
Rememeber - Dial 911 - and die! It's just as effective

If the shoe-person were more severly dealt-with on the spot...people...nah, these imbiciles couldn't comprehend the danger and wrongness of their acts...no matter how many innocents die, no matter how. That baby dangling out of the WTC window by its mother's dying hand, didn't get to drink and enjoy a plane ride. Shame on these criminals...and when they get out of court, where I am not sure this now weakened and corrupted country will put them...the people should remember...their families, neighbors and workmates...and take appropriate, and legal...but not kind action. Punish them. Remember 9-11-01. Remember.
I am surprised I haven't read anything on FR on this point from our Libertarian cadre (I think they are too busy worrying about the War on Drugs): protecting airplanes is, for the airplanes' owners, a private property issue. Businesses have both a right and a duty to protect their assets and their customers while utilizing those assets. Protecting airplanes is, for the GOVERNMENT, is covered by both of the two legitimate roles of government as defined by Jefferson: protect the citizenry from foreign attack, and mediate disputes among citizens.
On my airplane (or in my business, in my home or in my car), "unruly" is what I say it is. On YOUR airplane "unruly" is what YOU say it is.
Fair enough, but could you at least post some kind of standard of some sort? Some kind of a "you cannot be more than THIS obnoxious" on our airline? Perhaps a short film before boarding, or a comic book primer ala "Goofus and Gallant". Something like that.
Don't be an idiot. First of all, simply because they landed at EP doesn't mean they were over the city when they decided to land. They could have returned to EP from farther away. Second, I realize you probably were not serious (at least I hope you weren't) but it should go without saying that lateness is not a reason to be unruly. At this point, joking about it isn't funny.
What a fascinating piece of revisionist history. We non-amokers thought it was hell to be cramped up with drug addicts spewing their toxic waste into our fresh air.
Truly the bad old days...
If the airline presses charges then the unruly passengers will be charged for the amount of money it cost the airline to divert the flight ... fuel and employee compensation. It's significant.
