In an effort to plan our first Ed Watch campaign, I am looking for colleges and universities that are the worst offenders of traditional American values. They may be havens for Leftists, Marxists, or other cultural traitors. They may sponsor curricula that promote anti-Christian values, anti-familial activities, or racial dissent. They may waste taxpayer money or advance a trivial or useless agenda. Whatever the case, they are institutions of liar learning that need to be "outed."
FReepers: Who are they?

They are ahead of schedule.
But they underestimate us.

Flip side - Can anyone point me to the best college(s) or university for my up and coming college students (daughters)?
what are you looking for? size, departments, difficulty, social life, cost?
I just want their brains to work upon graduation. Well rounded, not isolated from reality, but getting both sides of the story. Medium size, liberal arts, moderate to high difficulty, relative conservative social atmosphere, and medium cost state or private. Appreciate your opinions.

There are no state schools that meet your criteria, IMHO.
If its colleges (not universities) you want, the following is a nice list:
Calvin, George Mason, Grove City, Hillsdale, St. John's (Md).
Let me know if you need more info.

University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Employer of Jennie Traschen. She is the physics professor who famously described the American flag - 14 hours before the World Trade Center was attacked - as a "symbol of terrorism and death and fear and destruction and oppression."

The University of Wisconsin Madison has quite a history Don't forget Donna Shalala's attempt to outlaw 'hate speech'.

Northwestern University
This sorry A$$ so-called institute of higher learning
refused to let me enroll in Oct '69 on my GI Bill
simply because I was a Viet Nam Vet
and my presence on campus would have been offensive to students.

Did you have to offer a seig-heil to a pic of FemiFuhrer Gloria Steinem at graduation?

Ya beat me to it. My alma mater, Pitzer College, takes the cake. One has to find a relatively sane advisor to help you get around the diversity requirement. As a result, the 5-10 sane (not even conservative) profs shoulder about 50% of the students. This they DO NOT like, and you have to plead with them and promise to be low maintenance, or they will not take you on as an advisee.

But they underestimate us.I don't think so, but I hope you're right.

When I saw the title of the thread, Wisconsin was the first University that came to mind. Isn't this where that pc pig Shalala is from? If I am not mistaken, Wisconsin has some pretty strict sanctions against free speech and is basically a hotbed of liberal Nazism.
Liberal nazism, yes, but academic free speech, no. It was a big deal a few years ago when a few very pro-1st Amendment professors were able to gut the faculty speech code. It helped that one of them (Donald Downs) is one of the foremost scholars on the 1st Amendment in the country.
So the speech codes are dead, but that doesn't stop the student body from shouting down conservative speakers at lectures.

10. University of Wisconsin The Badgers stand out for their commitment to Ecopledge, an organization that attempts to persuade corporations to be more environmentally conscious. The 9,000 UW Ecopledge signers -- more than a fifth of the student body -- have vowed not to work for, or purchase from, the likes of Boise Cascade, Disney, or DaimlerChrysler until they improve their environmental records.
The Ecopledge people might want to actually check those 9,000 signatures. Me and my friends signed those damn petitions multiple times with names like "Jacques Strap" and "Mike Rotch."

I'd love to send my kids to George Mason. Can't afford it. Two wage earner family making 90K, we're RICH, you know. Not a dime of financial aid for us RICH people!
To: Oschisms
My alma mater is on a previous list. Now when I get the alumni beg letters, I use their envelope and stamp to send back a pledge of "ZERO" dollars. Plus a note congratulating them for making the Mother Jones list.
I'm sure it dosn't change anything on campus, but each time I do it, I get a wicked grin that last the whole day!

would be easier to list the ones that are not cesspools. George Mason, Chicago Economics, Grove City, Claremont, a few others. One of the "other few" is VMI, although the ACLU is doing everything it can to destroy all its standards.

Almost all of higher education is a cesspool -- with a few exceptions (Air Force, Army, Navy, Hillsdale, University of Chicago, George Mason and a handful of others) -- but The Evergreen State College in my "hometown" of Olympia has to be the worst of the worst. People like Mumia, Johnny Walker, Castro and even Osama Bin Laden would be welcomed as heroes with a [truly] red carpet. A sizable chunk of the student body, primarily the female chunk, are homosexual activists. They worship Gandhi and support Arafat. They honor and respect all violence
against the United States and vociferously condemn all acts of self-defense by the United States. They believe that gnats, spiders and Douglas Firs have the same "rights" and should be afforded the same status as human beings
The place teems with witches and druids. And you can get college credit for spending time naked in a hot tub with your sociology prof. Their most renowned and quoted professor is a lesbian who heads up the Peace Studies program. I could go on for hours this way, but why bother? There's no place on the planet quite as deranged and full of miscreants and losers as this college.
