Pray for America.
Can you imagine this in America?
We have a cemetary where over 3,000 Confederate were buried and a Confederalte flag cannot be displayed?
Atleast the original court clearly saw this as a violation of the first Amendment.
------
Look at this quote "to preserve these cemeteries as quiet places in which to honor the American dead, free from controversy and partisan conflict."
When in the hell did some imaginary need for keeping quite places free from controversity and conflict override the Bill of Rights of our Constitution?
If Protesters want to protest a flag being peacefully and quitely flown at a cemetary and interupt a ceremony then let them be arrested if the authority have a law against such, but why take away free speech for peacefully showing a flag in honor of the cayse which men believed in and bravely died for(Whether you agree with their cause or not)?

It's an extremely sad day in our nation's history.

The confederates fought against th U.S.Army just like the Taliban. Should we allow Taliban flags? Give me a break.

No suprise here. Like many wars, the fighting stops but the principal differences remain to this day.
Can anyone here truly deny that we are a divided country to this day?

Find descendants of those men, buy flags for them, take them there and let them put them on the graves. Have them keep doing it until they get arrested and then milk the cameras with the story. After about 50 times getting arrested for this unconstitutional law someone somewhere will decide that its not worth the hassle and embarassment of arresting families for decorating graves.
Thats how it worked for other civil rights and it would work for these also if someone is willing to get arrested for it.

So go fly the flag there and forget what the court said. What is it with all these winners out there that follow every stupid unconstitutional ruling that could not be enforced if you simply go there and do it anyhow.
Where is the cementary? Someone give me a confederate flag. I'll go there and do it myself if you are afraid. It is not that difficult to protect your free speech rights people. Just SPEAK! or in this case, wave your flag.

I know I will pay hell for this question, but I will ask it anyway?
Would it be appropriate to fly a Soviet Flag at the Walker's burial site? (Not the Taliban guy, the soviet spies guy.)

I remember watching the History Channel a while back. They were showing old film footage from the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. There was a re-enactment of Picketts Charge by the actual participants. A long line of old men in grey beards and grey uniforms, battle flags flying, slowly made it's way to the Union lines manned by old men in grey beards an blue uniforms. When the lines met, they embrased, hugged, shook hands, cried on each other's shoulders. Confederate flags flew along side Union flags. If they could forgive, why can't we. Let the Confederate flag and US flag fly together over this hallowed cemetery.

I hope this goes to the Supreme Court and they give these politically correct lower court stool pigeons the kind of slap they deserve. Somebody who dies for his cause deserves to have his nation's flag flying over his grave.
If we allow these revisionist goons to have their way, they will rename Washington - the city and the state - just because Washington was a slave-owner. What drivel!!

My wife's great-grandfather, a Confederate soldier from Georgia, died at Point Lookout Prison during the War of Northern Aggression. He fought under the Confederate Flag 365 days a year, not just twice a year.
Yankees who believe they hold the moral high ground should read about the treatment of Confederate soldiers in Yankee prisons, such as Point Lookout and Elmira, New York. The North had food and medical supplies to give the prisoners but withheld them because the South did not have the same supplies to give to Yankee prisoners (in part because of the Yankee blockade). If this had happened in these days and times, the North would be convicted of war crimes.
Exchanging prisoners would have saved the lives of many men on both sides but General Grant and Secretary of War Stanton stopped the ongoing exchange because the Southern soldiers reenlisted right back in their units while the Yankee soldiers just went home.

As a former Marylander and one who's family fought on both sides of the war, and had family who's house was damaged in Gettysburg, I am ashamed that this would happen.

I am getting fed up with courts that rule against the Constitution.

You have rights only if you fought on the politically correct side of the war.

The damn Yankee's do not want anyone to remember how badly they got beat up on at times during the war.
