Grand Jury Indicts Tyson Foods Executives

SmartMoney.com - Market Analysis Grand Jury Indicts Tyson Foods Executives A FEDERAL grand jury in Tennessee indicted executives and managers of Tyson Foods (NYSE:TSN - news) on charges of conspiring to smuggle illegal aliens to work at the company's poultry-processing plants, the Justice Department said. The 36-count indictment unsealed on Wednesday said managers of the biggest U.S. chicken marketer tolerated the hiring of illegal aliens to meet production goals and cut costs. Tyson, of Springdale, Ark., disputed the charges. ``The prosecutor's claim in this indictment of a corporate conspiracy is absolutely false,'' the company said in a written statement. ``In reality, the specific charges are limited to a few managers who were acting outside of company policy at five of our 57 poultry-processing plants.'' The Justice Department said Tyson aided the immigrants by obtaining false documents so that they could work at Tyson poultry-processing plants ``under the false pretense of being legally employable.'' The indictment, the result of a 2 1/2-year undercover investigation by the Immigration and Naturalization Service, charges two corporate executives, Robert Hash, vice president of the retail fresh division, and Gerald Lankford, former human-resources manager. Four other former managers also were named. Fifteen plants were implicated in the conspiracy. Tyson said it conducted an internal investigation into the matter several months ago and terminated four managers named in the indictment. Two others are on administrative leave. ``This indictment came because Tyson refused to agree to the prosecutor's outrageous financial demands,'' the company said. Tyson also said it has taken steps to ensure that all of its employees are legally documented, including discontinuing the use of temporary-employment agencies to fill full-time positions within its processing plants, and making sure that managers with the authority to hire workers participate in training sessions dealing with the company's hiring policies and methods for detecting improperly documented workers. It also said it has terminated workers without proper documentation, and that it will review employees' documents every six months

Maybe they should have been indicted for not taking the time to provide paragraph breaks.

Illegal aliens are the bugs. Companies that hire them are the porch light. You can stand outside swatting at bugs all night, or you can turn off the porch light!

As I've said many times on FR...we continue to have mass third world immigration in America for one simple reason: the elites benefit from it.

1) The economic elites benefit by having wage rates pushed downward, since third world immigrants will generally work for lower wages than american workers. This increases the profit margins/stock options of the economic elites.

2) The governmental elites support mass third world immigration because these folks tend to be big government voters. They don't mind high taxes (since they don't pay them) and they access large numbers of government services (thus keeping the governing elites in business).

The losers are the american middle and working classes. They lose by having their wages suppressed and their quality of life diminished. Their schools are overcrowded, their streets are less safe, and the cultural familiarity that they enjoyed in their communities is eroded.

As for the elites, they have the money and power to avoid the negative social fall-out of mass third world immigration. Their kids go to elite private schools, and they live in elite, gated neighborhoods. There are no squatter camps of Salvadoran immigrants near the Kennedy yacht launch in Cape Cod.

As South African President PW Botha once said: "a rich man can buy his own apartheid".
