BILL WOULD GIVE TAX BREAK FOR GUN SAFES
Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle is expected to introduce legislation that includes a provision giving a $150 tax credit to individuals who purchase a gun safe.
It would also require licensed firearm dealers to inform customers of the tax incentive.
Even if I agreed, which I don't, the schools are barely capable of handling the job they have now. Increasing the work load in non-academic areas like this makes it unworkable without overhauling the system (not that I'm against that.)
If I did (and I'm not saying I do) I guess I'd be SOL on the handouts. Either that, or I'd have to find a newer receipt.
And you think taking someone's money and forcing him do something you have "approved" of in order to get it back is legitimate? Can you say "socialism" boys and girls? Sure you can!
Don't you belong on one of those Democrat websites?
OK, I see that now that I read it again.
I still don't recall the US Gov. having weapons available for citizens unless you mean DCM. The colonists did have central armories of sorts. Witness Lexington...
I like the odds...

In fact, it will be a felony. And of course, the feds will need to be able to come in and inspect "their" gun safe.
Same deal with trigger lock laws: a few years after these laws pass, it will be illegal NOT to have a "federally approved" trigger lock on your guns.
Probably one which will take 5 minutes to get off, after you have gotten it out of your "federally approved and inspected" gun safe. This will make it safer for BATF agents who come to inspect your "arsenal" of two or more guns and ten or more rounds of ammo.
Of course, you can always ignore these new laws....and if you are caught with an unlocked gun, you will become an instant felon, spend 5 years in the pen under zero tolerance "Operation Exile" laws, and lose your gun rights forever.
"WE ARE GOING TO HAMMER GUNS ON THE ANVIL OF RELENTLESS LEGISLATIVE STRATEGY! WE ARE GOING TO BEAT GUNS INTO SUBMISSION!" --Then US Rep Chuck Schumer, NBC, 1993.
Well... What if your state outlaws some of your guns a mere 24 months before you qualify for early retirement and you find that you have to store some of your guns out of state?
Having a second safe could save you several hundred dollars a year in storage charges. The savings could be used to buy even more guns.
(I'm not saying that I own any guns or live in a state that has outlawed any or am storing any out of state but what if?)
Set a precedent that the community is served by locking up many of their individually owned guns in a central facility?
Please tell me you are kidding? The law requiring ALL guns to be deposited there would follow almost immediately.
I'm going to buy a shoe box and a roll of duct tape.
Stay Safe
They would have to give me more than 150 dollars to make me do that. lol.
Stay Safe !
Not real bright, those Democrats, are they.
This is so rife with "backfire opportunity" that it's laughable.
Wanna know how to eviscerate it, bigtime?
Have the NRA, GOA, JFPO etc. start handing out "gun safes" for a ten dollar donation.
Hand them out to anyone.
The article says nothing about guns, after all -- only "safes".
Now ask yourself -- how many taxed-to-death non-gun-owners would line up to get a $150 tax break for a ten buck investment?
With everyone claiming the benefit (rightfully, no less!), how are they gonna use it to determine who owns guns?
Oops, there goes that "registration" thing!
