Clinton Pollster Clearing White House Path for Hillary (GAG ALERT!)
Newsmax ^ | 12/15/01

A former top pollster for ex-President Clinton has produced a survey showing former Vice President Al Gore's unfavorability numbers rising precipitously, a development which could convince Democrats to drop the former VP from their 2004 presidential short list in favor of another popular Democrat.

Independent polls show the next most popular presidential candidate with Democrats is Clinton's wife, New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

Pollster Mark Penn's latest survey reveals the former veep's "lowest" ratings yet, reports this week's U.S. News & World Report's "Washington Whispers."

"In the latest Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates poll done for the moderate Democratic Leadership Council, Gore gets a 49 percent favorability rating, offset by a 46 percent unfavorability rating."

Penn says that former Gore running mate Sen. Joe Lieberman, House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt and Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle all have better favorability numbers.

Unmentioned but certainly well known by the former Clinton pollster, Mrs. Clinton beats them all among Democrats hoping to recapture the White House in three years.

In August, 34 percent of Democrats told Gallup/CNN/USA Today they'd nominate Gore again with Hillary a relatively close second at 21 percent. The only other Democrat to break into double digits was has-been New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley, with 12 percent.

Former V.P. nominee Joe Lieberman was backed by just 9 percent.

A survey of Iowa Democrats in April also showed only Gore beating Mrs. Clinton.

Hillary will be running for President for 2004. Get used to it. As the next year progresses, you will see MORE and MORE signs of Hillary running. By the end of the year, it will be clear to everybody that Hillary is running. Remember, she is DESPERATE to get back in the White House. So much more furniture left to steal.

Agreed. I'd be looking for Edwards from NC.

A slick-talking lawyer, liberal and pretty-boy. Clinton credentials without the stink.

But don't count out the warthog from Chappaqua. Remember all those FBI files she was privvy to?

She could use them to get picked as VP on the ticket.

Whether it's Clinton, Fienstein or Boxer, you can bet it will be a woman.

Oh so true! Too many suckermoms out there with the cellphone embedded in their ear.

Most hate to keep abreast of politics and foreign affairs. They voted for a rapist twice without batting an eyelash.

The only reason Gore lost was because he acted like a moron in the debates. Many of them probably didn't vote in 2000.

Would they vote for Hillary in 2004?

Does a bear $hit in the woods?

When your own party only gives you a 21% backing, you know you're in trouble.

Your first possibility in #38 seems inplausible for D's (R's maybe, but not D's!!). They only know how to play to win - it's always an all-out, no-holds-barred cat fight for them.

Clinton Pollster Clearing White House Path for Hillary

Here it comes. Next is hillary telling us that she has to obey the will of the people (read: friends, political allies, etc.) and run for the Presidency.

I have been accused of not explaining myself very well lately. My response was to CT's 2004 premature press release....GW winning 49 states and Gephardt being the 'former speaker of the house' hence...so let it be written, so let it be done.

If you think that I am a Hitlery fan, you are sadly mistaken. Not-for-nuthin did I name myself GWfan.

I predict the democrats will nominate Sen. Kerrey from Massachusetts. The elites love him.

(BTW - Kerrey's arrogance will be his undoing if he gets the nod.)

Hillary is unelectable as president. It would be the greatest (GOP) landslide in the history of presidential elections.

Isn't that what we said about her chances of being elected Senator???

No one will give her hardballs.

Any balls the media had, Hillary's carrying in her purse.

I agree. The national Media would allow her to lie and demonize Bush, and turn any response he made into an "attack on women".

They continue to underestimate GW and will always assume that they are more intellegent than ANY Repub. 21% with her name recognition among Dems is some really bad news for her. They are in serious trouble and they know it. Their only defense is to stonewall all of GW's plans and now is the time to begin pressuring Dashole!

Pray for GW and the Truth

Hill believes ALL the jackass crap the democrats want to foist on this country and furthermore she's willing to lie, deceive, and dissimulate to the general voters, which is what has to be done to elect a liberal democrat in this country of peoples that still hold traditional values. That's why demos like her. They see her as a ticket back into power WITH THEIR VALUES IN TACT.

Yeah, I know it's far fetched, but I have always wondered just how badly they want to get rid of her. I'm not so sure they believe she can win at anything - even though she did win the senate seat. However, if Guiliani had been running, I'm not at all sure she would have won.

My theory is a lot of dems are fed up with the Clinton tactics and want them to go away; believing their tactics have driven away more voters than they have brought in.

That's not what I said. In fact, New York was probably the only place she could get elected senator other than Massachusetts. And as I've often said, had Ted Kennedy been retiring instead of Moynihan, Hillary would have been up in Massachusetts wearing a Red Sox cap.

Furthermore, Hillary only managed to squeak out a victory in New York because her Republican opponent (Guiliani) dropped out late in the race, leaving a virtual unknown (Rick Lazio) to run against her. Even so, the election was pretty close. Guiliani would have destroyed her in a general election, and that was before 9/11.

You pretty much put it on the line, Hitler was the same way, whatever happened, he was powered like the energizer bunny, and I am afraid to say it, but Hillary is a lot like her dad!
