If you were using "Sullan" tactics there would be many less heads on shoulders and thereby fewer posts.

Well there are a lot of folks around here complaining of wasted bandwidth all the time (for all text posts, too), and that technique would certainly help in that regard. Somewhat more seriously, Sulla was not much of a stickler on method, since execution of a citizen was rare in his day, and they crucified non-citizens, so I don't think that there were many skilled axemen then. I believe that most of the victims of the proscriptions were killed with daggers or the gladius, probably a few clubbings and suchlike too, I guess.

Some here are so shallow that they think that the fact GWB drank made the Christians remove support. These people do not understand that Christians all have their own sin stories, and how it is the grace of God saves, not our righteousness...so GWB's drinking history shocks not one of us...and because we believe in God's mercy we could believe he is a new creation....

Mom, you hit it exactly. (I'm starting to like you.) The notion that Christians are narrow-minded rubes with pinched moral codes to match their pinched intellects, just goes to show how desperately misunderstood He and His followers are. Of course, not all of the "misunderstanding" is accidental, either.

Clemenza, the states you mention were carried by fraud. When, pray tell, will republicans speak up about that?

And since you don't vote, you don't count.

I do vote, and actually selected several federal, state, and local candidates that I could support. I did cast a blank ballot with respect to the Presidential race, since none of the candidates merited my support Oddly enough, this was a fairly common response in my county, which tallied more votes for the candidates for Recorder of Deeds than for the candidates for US President. The difference was several hundred out of about 25 thousand votes cast (for the Recorder of Deeds candidates that is). I always vote, but I never vote for "someone" merely to avoid a blank spot on my ballot.

Well it is a bit unusual to pick up a conversation after 8 months, but I believe that the other part of my original post: 'I am afraid that a statement that this administration is not an improvement over that of X-42, makes your opinions not worth considering.' is still my position. Long time no see, have you been on vacation since December?

"Speaking yesterday at an American Enterprise Institute seminar, Rove said the Bush campaign "probably failed to marshal support of the base as well as we should have," said the "Tribune." Rove added: "But we may also be returning to the point in America where fundamentalists and evangelicals remain true to their beliefs and think politics is corrupt and, therefore, they shouldn't participate."

Rove said that if the "process of withdrawal" went on it would be bad for the country as well as conservatives and Republicans. "It's something we have to spend a lot of time and energy on."

I've said it here before, and I'll say it yet again: I think Rove is an idiot.

He failed to marshall the Conservative Christian forces due to HIS strategy of "gee, let's all be mamby-pamby and inclusive and hug anyone who isn't white and be kind and sweet and gentle and non-confrontative and moderate and avoid sounding like mean 'n' stuff or God forbid "conservative"".

That B.S. damned near cost his candidate the election, despite an incredibly fat treasure chest and what should have been a slam-dunk election.

WHEN are these morons going to learn????

Yes and next time there will be 19 million who will stay home.

Maybe they can depend on all the Illegal immigrant votes and all the bogus hispanic voters that are "secret" republicans.

I think you are confusing "Christian" with "bigot." Most Christians are not opposed to hugging non-whites, being kind and not sounding mean.

I guess that tells us a lot about you.

Yeah, well, let's discuss something called "context", and no, asshole, you know NOTHING about me..........except that I have no patience with idiots, as you've just seen.

The standard comeback of someone who's been called on a stupid point and has nothing left to defend his ridiculous position.

Not even a good try. Stick to comic books.

I have no ridiculous position to defend.

It is you who claimed that George Bush failed to get the Christians out to vote because he hugged non-whites, was non-confrontive and didn't sound mean.

Maybe people will believe you are a good conservative Christian if you call me an asshole again. If not, try being even more vulgar.

Keep digging your hole. It isn't my fault you didn't understand the point; you tried to take a stupidly simplistic, out-of-context interpretation and use it to publicly (attempt to) upbraid me. I'll use monosyllables if that will help you understand the real point.

My Christianity is my business, not yours, and if my language offends you, get over it. Be careful who you decide to attack so idiotically in the future with your lofty, snoot-in-the-air attempts at painting someone as some knuckle-dragging, racist redneck.

YOU can kiss my ass, son.

That is a classic line--may I quote you. It is just too true. Nothing against Christians but what did they expect to achieve by not voting in the election. I just don't understand the mentality.

Joining Doug from Upland will be Marsha Richards of the Evergreen Freedom Foundation! The teachers union in the State of Washington does not like the people at EFF. They would love to whack their knuckles with a ruler, give extra homework, keep them in at recess, and give them detention!

You are getting more Christ-like as we speak. :]

And God knows no "real Christian" would be non-confrontive, sound non-mean and hug non-whites.
