RAMALLAH, West Bank, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Palestinian
President Yasser Arafat decided on Wednesday to close down
immediately all institutions belonging to the militant Hamas and
Islamic Jihad groups after a deadly ambush on an Israeli bus.
"The Palestinian Authority in an urgent meeting headed by
Arafat has taken a decision that Palestinian security forces
will immediately close down all Hamas and Islamic Jihad
institutions, including education, health and political
offices," an official statement said.
The Palestinian Authority earlier condemned the Palestinian
attack on the bus near the Jewish settlement of Immanuel in the
West Bank in which 10 people were killed, and two suicide
bombings in the Gaza Strip in which three people were wounded.
The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, an armed group linked to
Arafat's Fatah group, claimed responsibility for the attack on
the bus. It said the attack was retaliation for killings by
Israeli forces.

Why do they yapp their mouthes arrogantly about the right thing to do. They should do it, keep quiet about it and then repent to the world by hanging them in public. Then we can start talking about prosperity and character for the Palestinian people. The Intifadah is actualy destroying the legality of the Palestinian character, much like the Nazies destroyed Nazi Germany character. As a matter of fact I am wondering if it is too little too late.

It depends on the definition of the word "close"

Who was it that said "We will turn them against each other?" Hmmmm, now who was it that said that?...."

Diversionary tactic to buy time. Arafat is not suicidal. My paranoid guess is that something is coming down by Christmas, on multiple fronts.

Note that the latest attack was claimed by Fatah. He is not closing their offices. Besides, the terrorists can just telecommute.

Palestinian Authority says it will close all offices and institutions of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Thanks. Lots of BREAKING NEWS at this moment.......thank God for FR!
Question: So why wasn't THIS done 10-20 years ago?
Answer: Arafat found their presence and killings valuable to him.
Aside: Same as Pakistan saw the creation of Al Quaeda.

Arafat needs to conduct a Knight of the Long Knives before he leaves.
The power vacuum is departure will create will be far more unstable; best he do away with his enemies first.

Yeah. Right.
IF they do this it just proves you need to hold a gun to Yassir's head at all times.
