A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 12/10/01

The President and First Lady entertained a group of children from Boston Elementary School in Arlington, VA. The First Couple shared storytelling duties as the President ended the event with a reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'. The plane that crashed into the Pentagon flew directly over the elementary school on September 11th. Also today, the President celebrated Hanukkah by lighting a 100-year-old menorah on loan from the Jewish Museum in New York. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Prior to the Clinton era, we always had assumed a minimum level of decorum would be respected at the White House. Prior to Clinton, the words "president" and "oral sex" were NEVER uttered in the same sentence! Plus, living through that awful post-election mess makes me appreciate the Bushes all the more. You don't really savor sweetness without having tasted the bitter.

Newsweek at 82%? Not bad. It appears to me that Newsweek has decided to go back to its usual liberal ways. Nasty editorial about Ashcroft and the gun issue; show conventional wisdom for W crossways and said he was a domestic chump. Evidently, they don't like his domestic agenda. Newsweek just taking its orders from the DNC. Makes me sick. I hate the press.

>>>>>Rudy has been outstanding in rallying NY since 9-11 while Dubya has been waging a war to save our Western Civilization from the malovent agenda of Islamic fanatics!! Dubya should have been Numero Uno!>>>>>>

The mentality of people who make these kind of selections obviously is not very good. It is just another way for morons like that not to give him the credit he is due. As far as I am concerned they just lost a viewer.

I agree. I was going to watch it tonight but after reading FR comments and picking W as number 2, I decided against it.

Here, this is the combination of the polls on Dubya's job approval and personal approval rating.

myst...I will NEVER forget standing in line at the polls during Dole vs. Clinton, and hearing the husband and wife behind me say to each other, " well, who are YOU going to vote for? Clinton?" They obviously had not discussed the election at all prior to voting day. Let me tell you , that would be INCONCEIVABLE at our house. BTW, let your stomach settle. Yes, bad things have happened, but good people are in charge and are taking care of it. Can you imagine if Clinton were president now? What a true nightmare.

No, I don't but you should be able to go to their site and leave a message. Someone posted the website earlier. I am not going to bother, I simply won't be watching their station anymore.

Oh the joy, especially after the FL fiasco, to see our guy up there on that stand being sworn in. For days afterwards I'd just think of the swearing in and get a rush of joy! I only wish I'd known of freerepublic back then to share the experience with like-minded folk.

Exactly! Exactly!! That dreary day in January was the brightest day in the year (make that eight years)!! And, hopeless Romantic that I am, those Inaugural Balls, and watching the new President and First Lady dance in each other's arms, literally took my breath away!!
(My husband and I actually discussed what might be going on in the WH later that evening!!
We've been married 25 years.....we knew!!)

And that's when I found FR, and lurked until I couldn't stand not sharing in the joy here!!
(Addiction followed shortly thereafter!)

Ooohweee! These pix have three of my favorite things to see in pix with him:

1) Being so natural with kids
2) Looking adoringly at his beautiful wife
3) Those glasses! I don't know what it is about those reading glasses, but they always make me pause and sigh a little bit. :-D

I believe what I told my friend two years ago when the election process was starting - when the people of the US get to know him, and how good, kind and honorable he is - then they will love him as Texans do. He hasn't changed; now the country is seeing him as he is.

You are so right! I felt this so strongly about GWB during the campaign, that I said so at every opportunity, to everyone whose eyes landed on my various campaign pins, etc. I live in a solid blue state where a huge number of people get their news from "black" radio and TV. I knew they would come to love him when they were allowed to see his true character. And I am very glad that America has a Texas!! to counterbalance this liberal East coast.

I think you're adorable and would love to "adopt" you if your mom ever gets too sick of the political stuff. :-D

I know how you felt about Clinton winning -- and I knew going in to vote for GHWB that the A-Hole from Arkansas was going to win. :-(

I instinctively knew that he'd debase this country in a big way, but I never thought that I'd almost get killed (Sept. 11) because of his cowardice and incompetence.

I'm so sorry that his presence ruined your childhood years.

I am a Texas native, but live in North Carolina in a very blue ("Carolina Blue", if you know what I mean) section of a red state. My husband and I enjoy tweaking delicate liberal sensitivities here! We like North Carolina, but yes, thank goodness for Texas.

Oh yes...I almost changed my name before the attack on us. And then I thought of it again until Oprah Winfrey announced Lee Greenwood's song as Clinton's signature song! The nerve of those fools! And then Hitlery's eyeballs nearly popping out of here skull (which I WISH would come to fruition!). But you are right! Life is so much better now! I guess I will have to start thinking of a new name for me!
