The Practice

Has anyone watched "The Practice" before. I watched an episode for the first time tonight. They covered almost every single one of the liberal "views".

1. All whites are evil racists.
2. Men are generally savage raping animals.
3. Attacked the use of tribunals and insinuated that it was being used for attack political opponents.

That's by that guy who does the Ally McBeal show. In his world, in addition to what you think, any woman that is 100 pounds is a big fat pig. Wonder what he thinks of the lovely curvaceous Mrs. Bush? BTW, people should look at the White House site, there's a pic of President and Mrs. Bush that looks lovely in front of the tree!! She's the anti-Ally McAnorexia

Your 100% correct. I could only stomach 15 minutes of it.

"The Practice," like "Ally McBeal," bears absolutely no resemblance to the actual practice of law, trust me. Pure Liberal escapist bullsh**.

I used to watch it every week, but finally couldn't take the "messages" anymore. Ah, for the good old days, when television was for entertaining us, not political messages that are all leftist.

Up until tonight, I've liked the show and blew off the liberal lawyer bits. Not anymore! I'm fuming mad about tonight's show.

It was the most UNAMERICAN show I've ever seen. I'm grossed out at myself because I was so shocked that I kept watching! Never again.

I do not believe you have watched enough of The Practice. (I find a recurring mocking of some left-wing themes in much of Ally McBeal - specifically the thinking behind sexual harassment laws)

In years past The Practice had a story line in which Bobby, a Catholic, seemed very sympathetic to the pro-life position. Another story line was very sympathetic to the right of self-defense by gun. Ms. Frutt was under threat and resorted to an illegal street purchase of a gun. The point was made that sometimes a waiting period can be fatal. The overarching theme for many episodes was the self-loathing that the attys experienced because of their role in freeing people they knew to be guilty. There is much more and the show and its writer are way to nuanced and complex to be easily pigeonholed. It is consistently one of the very best shows on free TV. Recommend you catch up on reruns and give it time to grow on you.

I watched one episode soon after it began - I think about two years ago? - and that was exactly the impression I got. I also once saw an interview with one of its stars, Cathryn(sp?) Manheim. She is a pathetically narcissistic raving leftist nutter who became a single mother on purpose. She has a son named Milo who is pretty much guaranteed to become one of the most screwed-up kids in Hollywood in a few years. It's hard for me to understand how anybody who's even slightly right of center could watch a show like that.

For almost four years now, I have not watched ANYTHING on the three major networks - NOTHING!! What you don't see/hear won't get you frustrated. i only watch some selected cable channels like the history channel, Christian channels, American movie classics, and FOX. I watch COPS and those forensic mysteries a lot. Even on cable I don't watch CNN or broadcast affiliates like MSNBC. They all left wing crap.

I missed it.

Instead, I watched the X-files, which now features TWO babes (Scully and Reyes), and then I watched "The Man Show".

Al Sharpton won out over The Practice with me.

I think I'll be working in his Presidential campaign.

I watch The Guardian (Tuesdays 9 PM EST, CBS). It's an engrossing show with three plotlines going on per episode. The writing's good. The star is Simon Baker, an Australian who came to the US and lost his accent. He had a feature role in "LA Confidential" as the young actor set up by Kevin Spacey. The storyline is set in Pittsburgh and they shot the exteriors here in Pittsburgh.

I only watch it a few times a year and most of those are when I'm visiting with my folks, but I caught tonight's episode. While I've seen some liberal themes in past episodes, I didn't infer what you inferred from this one. I got more of an "all lawyers are scum" message. I was also disturbed at how poor our analytical skills are becoming if we can't evaluate evidence more clearly than the jury did. I am concerned about too many Americans being willing to sacrifice their rights for the illusion of security, although I'm not sure that this episode really captured that problem.

I've spent all day on a personal project that involves writing and making web pages. I'm tired, so I was glad to turn on the TV and turn down my brain. The show provided 45 minutes of amusement. (It had already started when I turned it on.)

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but when the show won an award she used the time aloted for thank you's to blast the Impeachment and Senate trail from what I understand.

I was particularly disgusted that the Arab being held by the Feds (without his civil rights) was portrayed as a sympathetic, upstanding, 30-year-citizen of the United States. And I was furious when the black, female lawyer insisted "we were back" to where we were during WWII, when we were rounding up "foreigners" for internment. It was even suggested that the Arab-American was being tortured by the CIA! And, yes, in the courtroom the defense attorney was playing the race-card in order to make the black defendant look like the victim....

Laura Flynn Boyle's character (the DA) is conservative, and she's really the only reason worth watching the show. However, I only watch the show because it comes on right after "Law and Order: Criminal Intent."

I would agree with you about past episodes, but Dave Kelly decided to move it to the left this year, so I canned it.Kelly is a Harvard Law grad, who is very bright, and writes very well, but he is tainted with that untidy liberal thinking which often spoiled what would have been an A+ show.
