If we can't get our guys some khaki kevlar, can't we get them some khaki slipcovers for their woodland camo kevlar? Woodland camo in Afghanistan isn't the right answer.

Thanks for your posts.

Oh, there are other older practical ensembles for activities in such climes, if not exactly sized for use over Kevlar jammies. But even the old Desert Storm issue *chocolate chip* camo pattern *pajama jacket* cover for the flak vests would be an improvement, though some of the neweer protective vests with AK47-proof ceremic *trauma plates* may be oversize for the older covers. But even an oversized light khaki workshirt can be modified to work, and a khaki cotton *cheech* or headcloth as long used by the Foreign Legion can be wrapped as a shawl or serape. And it seems we've finally caught up with the older German ideas about helmet shapes, too....

We beat those guys, too. They had better fashion sense than the Taliban and the arabs. I kinda like the shorts. Reminds me of Bermuda, for some reason.

Well, the British Eighth Army had been after Rommel for a good deal longer, and had worn out his vehicles and stretched out the German supply lines to the breaking point, but the efforts of Patton and a few others at the end were certainly appreciated. But the uniforms of British, Italian and German participants from Tobruk to Benghazi was so nearly uniform that only headgear, weaponry and webbing helped to differentiate them. Salt-streaked khakis, usually made or cut-down to short sleeves and shorts [except for tank crew, who found a too-common bump against sun-baked hot metal at best painful and sometimes worse] were the fashion of that day, and it'll likely be mainly a much shorter visit into the Afghanistan AO that keeps the US troops there from adopting similar kit.

I've likewise seen Israeli kibbutzniks standing guard in khaki shorts and chopped-down levis, but thigh-length as in the US rather than the British knee-length Bermuda shorts, which the Israelis call *Zalman's*

I wonder what new tattoos the Marines will be sporting after this little outing....
