I'm an @home customer, AT&T to be exact. At 8:15 CST, I no longer could access any pages. Not google.com, not cnn.com, none of the old standbys that ALWAYS work.
I've heard a lot about the poaaibility of @Home pulling the plug on 4.1 million customers. Did it happen? The only reason I can connect at all is that my lovely and gracious fiance also has a dialup account for when she is on the road, and I am calling in here using that. I am presently on hold on the AT&T@Home help line. I'll have more information.
Technically, the light is on but no pages are being connected. My Cable Modem is up and connected but nothing loads.

I'm on Cox and am fortunately still up. However, in the event we go down can anyone recommend another service? Any fast dial-up options? Is Direct DSL a good service? Which companies are offering sweetened deals to people stranded by @home? I am not too computer savvy and could use a little help. Thanks.

I don't think BJs are lifetime appointments, but he definitely doesn't have to answer to any voters...True. Bankruptcy judges are Article I U.S. Const. judges, not lifetime appointments. They have 14-year terms and can be re-appointed.

I'm near Pittsburgh in Crafton, a western suburb.
Interestingly enough my 11 year old son just came into the room, saw me fiddle with dial-up and remarked...
"America has to get better judges!"

Just tried the http://newuser.attbi.com/ link that AT&T sent to us in a November 19th letter.
The URL is not working.
The AT&T high-speed internet cable in Dallas is out. I have checked with several friends throughout the Dallas area and all report the same problem.

IF we were going to have a disruption, it would have happened last night at midnight. (nice warning eh?)
a disruption could still occur...but only for a couple of hours supposedly.

If our own home-grown incompetents can do this much damage, then Lord help us should the terrorists decide to try to hit our telecom systems!

Ruh-roh. I'm @home, east coast. Been DLing at solid 2Mbps since 10pm EST. Still here, for now.
Maybe the shutdown is just as well... <10Gb free out of 160 right now. Gotta sort it ot sometime.

My ISP is still hooked up as well. I called last night (I have Mediacom with ispchannel.com powered by @home) and I was told that Mediacom was in negotiations with @home, and if this happened, an alternative plan was in place. So far, I'm still high speed cable modem internet connected.

My question is, outside of the obvious trying to log on every so often, how will an AT&T cable suscriber KNOW when/if service is restored.
the lights on the modem are blinking as usual. It WOULD have been NICE of AT&T to not just send that letter around and give us non-working urls, but also to be communicating via the airwaves, email, etcetera.
