I'm an @home customer, AT&T to be exact. At 8:15 CST, I no longer could access any pages. Not google.com, not cnn.com, none of the old standbys that ALWAYS work.
I've heard a lot about the poaaibility of @Home pulling the plug on 4.1 million customers. Did it happen? The only reason I can connect at all is that my lovely and gracious fiance also has a dialup account for when she is on the road, and I am calling in here using that. I am presently on hold on the AT&T@Home help line. I'll have more information.
Technically, the light is on but no pages are being connected. My Cable Modem is up and connected but nothing loads.

Let me tell you what AT&T did to its broadband customers in our area: 6 months ago, they came into town, sent out people to go door-to-door to do a hard-sell of their brand new broadband service. We who accepted let them on to our property to attach the various necessaries to our houses. (I wouldn't let them put the receiver on my brand new roof-- it's on the back of my house.) Service was very reliable at my house and very fast.
About a month ago, we get a notice that AT&T will be closing down its broadband service in our area, that we need to find new providers. So, I have holes in various walls from their installation for only 6 months of service!
AT&T better not ever come to my door or call my house. I won't have them. I wouldn't put it past them and their self-serving interests to be taaking the opportunity to give its other customers the shaft. I would not recommend any AT&T service to anyone.

AT&T sent a letter telling us to check out: http://help.broadband.att.com to learn more. Now if we try to access the URL, we get the message, Not found.

Tried AT&T support and coudn't get through. Gee, I wonder why!?
Y'know, funny thing is I was just about ready to cut Direct-TV in favor of AT&T having my phone lines, internet, and cable service.
If they don't have something in place fast, they get nothing from me.
You'd think they'd at least be makning an announcemnt via news.

OKay then, this is not company wide, but is, in fact, regional. All regions with AT&T and a connection report in. (I'd say the converse but that would make no sense. No connection, no report!)

Your angry.gif tried to put a cookie on my 'puter. You trying to track people? :)That's just from the server it's on (clear.msu.edu)... pesky things...

I fortunately kept my dial-up Earthlink account as a backup. Slow, but reliable.

Things that make you go "hmmmmm......."
Our Earthlink dsl was down from the day after Thanksgiving through Sunday. Calls to them (after 1 hour+ wait times) had them insisting it was the network card in hubby's computer.
Turned out to be a song and dance. Network card was fine and everything was restored by Monday. No explanation from Earthlink. I have dial-up on my laptop as a back-up and also for traveling. If it wasn't for that, we would have been totally disconnected. That convinced us to keep the dial-up even though it's an added expense.
Good luck!

Ain't happened here yet (Comcast @home)

Another Comcast customer here. The last email I received from them was still talking as if they hoped to continue service. I keep waiting for the "Goodnight Saigon" email message, but so far, nothing.

I hope ATT will get up and running soon. Maybe ATT drew the short straw to call the bluff. I hope that's the case. I can't see ATT Cox and Comcast throwing it all in the dumpster even for a few days. I think you have it backwards...E@H calls the shots after the ruling. The cable companies have no idea when the service might go out, and have no power to stop it (well, other than to pay E@H more money to use their network...)

You got cut? What's your region, we will make an outage-map.

Oh puleeez. I get 1,621 kb per second (just checked it with the ZDNet monitor) When your MSN hookup can even approach that, I'll believe you about it being better. We routinely download a 2 meg file in about 4 seconds.
Our speed pretty much depends on the other end's speed...nothing we can do to speed up the guy on the other end but it SMOKES on this end.
