Let me tell you what AT&T did to its broadband customers in our area: 6 months ago, they came into town, sent out people to go door-to-door to do a hard-sell of their brand new broadband service. We who accepted let them on to our property to attach the various necessaries to our houses. (I wouldn't let them put the receiver on my brand new roof-- it's on the back of my house.) Service was very reliable at my house and very fast.

About a month ago, we get a notice that AT&T will be closing down its broadband service in our area, that we need to find new providers. So, I have holes in various walls from their installation for only 6 months of service!

AT&T better not ever come to my door or call my house. I won't have them. I wouldn't put it past them and their self-serving interests to be taaking the opportunity to give its other customers the shaft. I would not recommend any AT&T service to anyone.

Everyone who loses their @home should cancel all of their AT&T services. They caused this mess more than anyone.

At&t broadband is different than @Home! At&T bought out @Home but from what I am hearing they were too far gone to save.

When I first got my cable modem it was through my cable company, Mediaone. They were bought out by At&t but I keep my mediaone email address. I am an at&t broadband user not an @Home user. As far as I know any service cut in the @Home connection will not be effecting me, I hope!

It's all to confusing with all these damn mergers!

What possibly did they have to drill in your house? The ISP comes through your cable pipe, which I presume was already installed.

SBC remodeled a brand new office in this area and moved their staff from the office they were sharing with Anixter (Anixter sold their networking devision to Ameritech which was then bought by SBC). 9 months later they closed the office and left for the eastern part of the state. They did this in part because they could not obtain a CLEC presence in this area.

Never got a letter from them explaining why. The SBC salesman told me. Nothing from anywhere/anyone else in SBC.

We blacklisted SBC and the place I am currently assigned to work does no business/will do no business with them. They called a couple of months? ago and I just laughed out loud and said please do not call here again, we will do no business with a firm that jobs customers like SBC.

The best way to show displeasure with a company that jerks customers around is to spread that experience via word of mouth. It eventually does work.
