DITC Commentary: Ever wonder where all those "seed faith" dontations are going? Whose getting rich again? Remind me. It thought it was those people who sent in their seed faith donations who were going to get a "100 fold increase" and that they would be the ones buying luxury homes. What a shock to find out it doesn't work out that way! Duh!!!!
Televangelists JAN and PAUL CROUCH of the Costa Mesa-based Trinity Broadcasting Network have purchased a Newport Beach house for close to $5 million, Orange County Realtors say.

Would you call this fleecing the flock? Their flock deserves to be fleeced. They send in money in hopes of getting a big financial payback. They make God into some kind of pyramid scheme operator. Well it's no question as to where their treasure is stored.

A lot of the leaders of eastern religions have cornered the market on castles, diamonds, and Rolls Royces.

If these dingalings weren't sending their money to Televanglists, they would probably be sending it to the democrats. The Lord moves in mysterious ways.

Hey, nice blanket statement - you're pretty slick.
Let me guess, Liberaltarian?

I'm getting a kick out of all these comments. LOL! Now I want to defend Paul & Jan Crouch. I used to watch them religiously when I lived in Seattle area. They are PENTECOSTAL and sometimes one needs a little extra OOOMPH! Paul is a gifted businessman, I'll grant you that. Jan is just a sweet lady who has odd ideas about how to dress and do her makeup. For victory & freedom!!!

In Southern California, US$ 1 million is actually a bit under the average price of homes in communities such as Malibu (US$1,300,000), Beverly Hills (US$2,700,000), Brentwood and so on.
themls.com is a very nice way to explore some of those neighborhoods; the prices of even incredibly boring homes would probably scare you half to death.
The house the televangelists bought in Newport Beach is most likely a decent sized home with a boat dock on Lido or Linda Isle. If you saw it, you would most likely not classify it as a mansion, although the kitchen appliances and decor probably cost more than an average house in the midwest.
US$ 5 million in Malibu (the market I'm most familiar with) will buy you a three or four story architectural beach house on a good beach, or a very nice bluff house with a magnificent ocean view. It might get you something you would describe as a mansion, but only if you go pretty far from the ocean. I saw a mansion on Cliffside Drive that was listed at $11.9 million, and no, it was not the most expensive house in Malibu. A old, small house in need of updating on the same street would run in the $2,500,000 range, although in nearby Birdview I found a $1,795,000 bargain. These prices are similar to, if not a little lower than Newport Beach.
I hope this has given you some perspective. If they're going to use the house to give large parties and the like, it might not be a bad investment for them. It's an expensive house, but far from the most expensive in the area; it would not be noted for its extravagence in the way Aaron Spelling's $46 million Brentwood house was.
D
Disclaimer: The house I live in is worth about $250,000.

Chuck Swindoll, if I am thinking of the right person, writes books, the income from which does NOT come from charitable donations. He earned his money and has a right to do with it as he pleases (I'm sure he is very generous with his money otherwise). On the other hand, Jan Crouch and her detestable hubby solicit 'love gifts' which
ostensibly go to Christian charity. Instead, they spend those GIFTS (not income) on their own selfish material desires. There can be no excusing their behavior.
By the same token, I once saw Benny Hinn (BE HEALED! he says as the people pass out on stage) driving near his office in Orange County, CA. He was driving a black jaguar convertible with the top down, his shirt was unbuttoned to his navel, and there was a young, beautiful blonde in the passenger seat. He's another one who is constantly begging for 'love gifts' to his 'ministry.
To: Polybius
no, Jesus would come on the show with a whip! driving out the greedy money changers!
To: RnMomof7
raise your overworked Pastors salary So they can buy better houses? Are they really overworked? A lot of them should jobs and resign their position.
To: freedomson
Yes, Benny Hinn is dangerous . . . and he also has very bad hair, along with Jan Crouch.

**BTW - these people will have to answer for this on Judgement Day, methinks there will be great wailing and gnashing of teeth**
So very true.
