TBN Televangelists Buy $5,000,000 Home
Deception in the Church ^ | Nov.4,2001, page K15 | LOS ANGELES TIMES,

DITC Commentary: Ever wonder where all those "seed faith" dontations are going? Whose getting rich again? Remind me. It thought it was those people who sent in their seed faith donations who were going to get a "100 fold increase" and that they would be the ones buying luxury homes. What a shock to find out it doesn't work out that way! Duh!!!!

Televangelists JAN and PAUL CROUCH of the Costa Mesa-based Trinity Broadcasting Network have purchased a Newport Beach house for close to $5 million, Orange County Realtors say.

Revolution Calling

For a price I'd do about anything
Except pull the trigger
For that I'd need a pretty good cause
Then I heard of Dr. X
The man with the cure
Just watch the television
Yeah, you'll see there's something going on

Got no love for politicians
Or that crazy scene in D.C.
It's just a power mad town
But the time is ripe for changes
There's a growing feeling
That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due

I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?

Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
[There's a] Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through

I'm tired of all this bullshit
They keep selling me on T.V.
About the communist plan
And all the shady preachers
Begging for my cash
Swiss bank accounts while giving their
Secretaries the slam

They're all in Penthouse now
Or Playboy magazine, million dollar stories to tell
I guess Warhol wasn't wrong
Fame fifteen minutes long
Everyone's using everybody, making the sale

I used to think
That only America's way, way was right
But now the holy dollar rules everybody's lives,br> Gotta make a million doesn't matter who dies

Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
[There's a] Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through

I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?,br>

Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
[There's a] Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through

I think the real miracle is how Benny Hinn's hair can be cantilevered off of his forehead so far and not hang down like bangs.

Gee...where are all the fundies? I felt sure there would be some here would would blast us for "bashing Christians" ("if you bash Jan and Paul, you bash all Christians everywhere!"). There must be a Harry Potter book-burning that's keeping them away from their computers today. ;-) LOL

Made me think of Frank Zappa's "Heavenly Bank Account" from the "You Are What You Is" LP:

"And if these words you do not heed

Your pocketbook just kinda might recede

When some man comes along

And claims a G-dly need

He’ll clean you out right through your tweed

That’s right folks, there’s a big difference between kneeling down and bending over"

Couldn't agree more. Beware that which you consume. Nothing changes until the demand changes.

"If these dingalings weren't sending their money to Televanglists, they would probably be sending it to the democrats. The Lord moves in mysterious ways."

That might just be the most cogent insight into all this rigamarow malarkey I'll read on this entire thread; perhaps, on this entire forum.
If I were an active supporter of the (assinine), "Quote of the Day/Week/Month" one sees 'round here from time to time?
I might just go ahead & submit your statement to whoever it is placing themselves in charge of deciding those things, myslf.

Thanks, FJM...an interesting & perhaps more importantly above all, hopeful & pragmatic way of looking at this.

couldn't have set it better myself. and also so what if jan wants to wear wigs, that is her business and we shouldn't judge her. what the issue on this thread should be kept to is the purchase of their extravagant home, again i have had problems wit this too. it appears to be wrong and we should avoid even the appearance of sin. it is hard to explain to people te need for donations when things like this happen.

Correct, I forgot about them, although they don't espouse to the Hindu religion as much as they do to a particular cult.

I wasn't aware of that, as I rarely see them on US television.

I wonder how Jesus would feel about a minister of the gospel pleading for money and then buying thousand-dollar suits and million dollar mansions?

I would imagine his reaction would be pretty much the same as his reaction to the money changers in the church.
