TBN Televangelists Buy $5,000,000 Home
Deception in the Church ^ | Nov.4,2001, page K15 | LOS ANGELES TIMES,

DITC Commentary: Ever wonder where all those "seed faith" dontations are going? Whose getting rich again? Remind me. It thought it was those people who sent in their seed faith donations who were going to get a "100 fold increase" and that they would be the ones buying luxury homes. What a shock to find out it doesn't work out that way! Duh!!!!

Televangelists JAN and PAUL CROUCH of the Costa Mesa-based Trinity Broadcasting Network have purchased a Newport Beach house for close to $5 million, Orange County Realtors say.

We who believe in Yahweh and His Messiah should stand in the gap and repent for these practices through TV; it may be that He may clean up these "ministries" before long and that the Word of God will again take precedence over all the religious deception.

You know, I can't help but think of the Genesis song, Jesus, He Knows Me:

Do you see the face on the TV screen
coming at you every Sunday
see that face on the billboard
that man is me

On the cover of the magazine
there's no question why I'm smiling
you buy a piece of paradise
you buy a piece of me

I'll get you everything you wanted
I'll get you everything you need
don't need to believe in hereafter
just believe in me

Cos Jesus he knows me
and he knows I'm right
I've been talking to Jesus all my life
oh yes he knos me
and he knos I'm right
and he's been telling me
everything is alright

I believe in the family
with my ever loving wife beside me
but she don't know about my girlfriend
or the man I met last night

Do you believe in God
cos that's what I'm selling
and if you wanna go to heaven
I'll see you right

You won't even have to leave your house
or get out of your chair
you don't even have to touch that dial
cos I'm everywhere

Won't find me practising what I'm preaching
won't find me making no sacrifice
but I can get you a pocketful of miracles
if you promise to be good, try to be nice
God will take good care of you
just do as I say, don't do as I do

I'm counting my blessings,
I've found true happiness
cos I'm getting richer, day by day
you can find me in the phone book,
just call my toll free number
you can do it anyway you want
just do it right away

There'll be no doubt in your mind
you'll believe everything I'm saying
if wanna get closer to Him
get on your knees and start paying

Our Pastor and his family live simply..much too simply in some cases..but that's what they feel is right and necessary. They never want to be accused to living high off the hog, so to speak. I agree.

Their flock deserves to be fleeced.

You got that right. Fools deserve to have their money taken from them. Being foolish with your money is the best way to learn NOT to be foolish with what's left of it....

Any locals you ask will speak of the facility with derision. It is covered with while light bulbs which burn every night.

Sounds like they had a little help from Clark Griswald.

"In that context, I care about him having a big expensive mansion about as much as I care about Bill Gates owning one."

That's why I run Linux. ;-)

From business and freedom-of-religion standpoint, I would agree. If you make the money legally, go for it. If that's how they and their sheeple choose to worship, that's their right in a free country.

However, from a Christian standpoint, I really question the "gospel" the Crouches are spreading. TBN simply isn't concerned with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. TBN and the Crouches are about turning a profit using the Lord's name, often from people who cannot really afford to send them the money, but do anyway.

Would Jesus or any follower of His ask for money from people, and then turn around and blow it on a personal residence rather than the furtherance of the Gospel of Christ? No.

So? There is worse fraud out there. Talk about clinton policies that are made in good wishes and fake promises. What about that? America needs to wake up, false prophets abound.

Benny Hinn claims: Jesus will appear physically in Nairobi, Kenya [to him and the Cruches] - April 2nd, 2000, on TBN:
"The hour is urgent. Many of you have known me for many years. But I am telling you right now, things I haven't said years 'n years 'n years ago. I believe - here this, hear this! I believe, that Jesus, God's Son, is about to appear physically, in meetings and to believers around the world, to wake us up! He appeared after His resurrection and He is about to appear before His second coming! You know a prophetess sent me a word through my wife, right here, and she said 'Tell your husband that Jesus is go'n to physically appear in his meetings.' I am expecting to see, I am telling you that - I feel it's going to happen. I, I, I'm, I'm careful in how I am saying it now, because I know the people in Kenya are listening. I know deep in my soul, something supernatural is going to happen in Nai - in Nairobi Kenya. I feel that. I may very well come back, and you and Jan are coming, to - Paul and Jan are coming to Nairobi with me, but Paul, we may very well come back with footage of Jesus on the platform! You know that the Lord appeared in Romania recently, and there's a video of it? Where the Lord appeared in the back of a church and you see him on video walking down the isle? Yeah! Paul do you remember when I came on TBN years ago and showed you a clip of the Lord appearing in our church in Orlando, on the balcony on the wall? Yeah. You, you remember that?
[Paul Crouch] Very well, I saw it!

[Benny Hinn] That was '80, 80 something, '86, what - whatever. You know I always wondered why the Lord, why did He do that? Do you know why, now I look back? That was the beginning of the greatest move of God in our church. Because '83, '84, and '85 were horrible years for me, horrible years. Eighty-six the blessings of God began, but they began with a - with this manifestation of the Lord's face on, on the balcony, that stayed for eight weeks. Eight solid weeks! The Lord has done this in the past, but He is about to do it again, now hear this, I am prophesying this! Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is about to appear physically in some churches, and some meetings, and to many of His people, for one reason - to tell you He is about to show up! To Wake Up! Jesus is coming saints!"

Mike Thomas's interview with Benny hinn:
He wears his diamond Rolex, diamond rings, gold bracelet and custom suits for all to see. ..."What's the big deal, for goodness sake?" he says. "What am I supposed to do, drive a Honda? ...That's not in the Bible. ... I'm sick and tired about hearing about streets of gold [in heaven]. I don't need gold in heaven. I got to have it now."

Paul Crouch said (on the TBN show "Praise The Lord" during their money-raising telethon) "if you have been healed or saved or blessed through TBN and have not contributed to (the) station, you are robbing God and will lose your reward in heaven." (Witnessed by Ed Tarkowski, e-mail Mon, 04 Aug 1997 20:34:13 -0600)

"God, we proclaim death to anything or anyone that will lift a hand against this network and this ministry that belongs to You, God. It is Your work, it is Your idea, it is Your property, it is Your airwaves, it is Your world, and we proclaim death to anything that would stand in the way of God's great voice of proclamation to the whole world. In the Name of Jesus, and all the people said Amen!" (Paul Crouch, TBN, 11/7/97)

Matthew 7

15
"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
16
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17
Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
19
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20
Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Well, yeah, but they're televangelists. That's the whole idea of being in show business. Televangelists are to religion as rasslin' is to sports.

Wow. That's exactly right. Congratulations on a perfect analogy.

The Big Money

Big money goes around the world
Big money underground
Big money got a mighty voice
Big money make no sound
Big money pull a million strings
Big money hold the prize
Big money weave a mighty web
Big money draw the flies

Sometimes pushing people around
Sometimes pulling out the rug
Sometimes pushing all the buttons
Sometimes pulling out the plug
It's the power and the glory
It's a war in paradise
It's a cinderella story
On a tumble of the dice

Big money goes around the world
Big money take a cruise
Big money leave a mighty wake
Big money leave a bruise
Big money make a million dreams
Big money spin big deals
Big money make a mighty head
Big money spin big wheels

Sometimes building ivory towers
Sometimes knocking castles down
Sometimes building you a stairway
Lock you underground
It's that old-time religion
it's the kingdom they would rule
It's the fool on television
Getting paid to play the fool

Big money goes around the world
Big money give and take
Big money done a power of good
Big money make mistakes
Big money got a heavy hand
Big money take control
Big money got a mean streak
Big money got no soul

Lyrics-Neil Peart-Rush

"Disclaimer: The house I live in is worth about $250,000"

I think that if Paul and Jan Crouch wanted to "serve the Lord" (if they what they call what they're doing over at TBN) in a $250,000 house, they certainly could handle it. Jan might have to go to the beauty parlor and actually get a HUMAN hairdo to to fit inside a smaller house, but I think she could handle living a less glamourous dwelling.

Jesus did.

So did one of the better pastors I ever had. He was a Baptist and his most central theme was prayer and reliance on the Lord. I had a very very small income and a growing family at the time and he sure ministered to me.

BTW my wife homeschools our 8 kids. The Lord bless you.
