I'll have to watch Letterman for this. I cannot imagine Cher singing 'O Holy Night.' It doesn't even compute. It's probably your natural defense mechanisms kicking in making it impossible for you to imagine something that horrible.

"Silver Bells" should be banned from Walmart!
To: bootless
Once, before Christmas, I was travelling in my car with my dog. The dogs barking Jingle Bells came on the radio. It drove my dog nuts. She barked and barked back. It was hillarious. Now, I still like to hear the doggies barking Jingle Bells.

Is it "only in Canada" that we get that tiring "Six White Boomers" by some Aussie, played ad nauseum as Christmas approaches - it's requested by every 6-year old in our city, I think.

As long as I do not hear Elvis, sounding not unlike a Cow caught in a Hail Storm, singing "I'll Have a Blue Christmas" - - It's a VERY GOOD Christmas !! !! !!

Back in 1975, when I was 14 years old, I heard a Christmas song that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I would love to find a copy of it. It's called,
I Found the Brain of Santa Claus...The lyrics go something like this:
I Found the Brain of Santa Claus
I found the brain of Santa Claus
underneath my bed.
I found the brain of Santa Claus
I wonder if he's dead?
Oh, he'll still have the same red suit
And that fluffy white beard,
But without that gray stuff in his head,
He'll start to act pretty weird.
Yes, I found the brain of Santa Claus,
Underneath my bed.
I found the brain of Santa Claus,
I wonder if he's dead? ...
It just brings tears to my eyes. If anyone knows anything about this song, please let me know.

"I saw Grandma Kissing Santa Claus". What schlock.
On the good side, I like a very old French carole called "Come bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella" (the French have had to do something worthwhile sometime) and that very ancient "Gagliarda" that Mannheim Steamroller did a number of years back.

Title "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" Someone else mentioned the M. Etheridge (sp?) redid it, but I've never heard that version (don't listen to much radio). Bite the bullet, get the original

I personally just love Celine Dion's Christmas album. Especially her rendition of 'Ave Maria'.

"Will somebody more patient than I am please explain the X in "Xmas"? " Pure laziness!
To: Miss Marple
I just did list it, but I thought it was Grandma kissing Santa Claus! What a hoot. I hate the song so much that I can't stand to listen to it enough to remember the words!

Ok, I don't get this. Why does she even have a Christmas Album? She is Jewish!! SO is Neil Diamond and he has one, too!! You've never seen "Fiddler on the Roof", and the song "Money, Money, Money"?

My useless knowledge is more geared towards pointless TV trivia, but I did a quick google search (I know that is probably cheating but I have never heard that song) and found this, "He spotted it as the name of a chicken-and-egg dish in a Chinese restaurant, and knew he had to use it in a song."
No such thing as cheating in the pointless trivia biz. Neatly done.
I'll supply the lyric in question as a courtesy to the viewing audience at home:
Mother And Child Reunion
No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away
Oh, little darling of mine
I can't for the life of me
Remember a sadder day
I know they say let it be
But it just don't work out that way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again
No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away
Oh, little darling of mine
I just can't believe it's so
Though it seems strange to say
I never been laid so low
In such a mysterious way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again
But I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
When the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away
Oh the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away
Oh the mother and child reunion
Is only a moment away
To: Scott from the Left Coast
I hate the song so much that I can't stand to listen to it enough to remember the words! The worst version has to be the John Mellencamp one with his child singing at the end. I don't think there is a more iratating version.

Now then. Let's sing the "Gilligan's Island" theme song together... Did you know that you can sing "Amazing Grace" to the tune of the theme song for "Gilligan's Island"?
To: BamaFan
I like alot of stuff M. Ethridge does, but the version I am thinking of is a guy singing solo. Doesn't sound like Lennon, but I'm not sure I even know what Lennon sounds like anymore, so could sure be him.
Geez, I don't know if I can make myself fork over however many $$$ to buy something by those two! But, then again, this is the first year in about 15 that I haven't been Ms. Bah Humbug, so I might just break down and buy the dang thing.

My favorite Christmas song is "Have You Seen the Light".
To: connectthedots; Interesting Times
Looks like we found another one! LOL! The theme to "Bonanza" has lyrics, also.
To: TexanaRED
