I seriously doubt that it is the "Portland Police" that does not want to cooperate with the federal probe. It is probably that odious little twit of a Mayor, Vera Katz who is behind this stupidity.
To: RippleFire
Geez, and I thought California was the land of fruits and nuts!
To: RippleFire
That didn't take long! How will the Peoples Republic of Portland respond to this?
To: RippleFire
Portland is apparently the northern oupost for the Socialist People's Republic of Berkely.

Portland police have refused to cooperate...
Wait...I'm getting a vision...it's clearer now...yes, I forsee a series of newspaper stories with the phrase; "massive withholding of federal funds in the City of Portland..."
To: RippleFire
My guess it's either the mayor, city manager and/or the police chief behind all this. The rank and file undoubtedly want to do their duty.
To: Busywhiskers
They stated that this guy is just the acting police chief. What happened to the real police chief?

I think we need a new police chief and the anti-profiling law rescinded.

Portland is a long way from NYC and DC. They can afford to play these games. The Muslims aren't bombing the hippies.
To: Grampa Dave
And I WAS going to go on vacation in Oregon next spring. Guess they don't need my money.

EA posted, "
Geez, and I thought California was the land of fruits and nuts!"Actually as we have been importing illegal aliens who hate America in Kalifornia as voting cults for the Kalifornia Demonicrats. We have been busy exporting our enviral fruit cakes to Portland, Ashland, Eugene and other left wing bastions in Oregon and to Seattle, West Coast Commie Town, USA!
Ask AuntB about the left wingers who control the city of Ashland!

I am astonished that not one comment gets this right. Not only does local police have a right to refuse to help a federal so-called authority which claims but won't prove its jurisdiction, but it has a moral and legal duty to protect its citizens from it. If Ashcroft can prove proper constitutional jurisdiction, fine. Until then, he can go get bent.
The word is REPUBLIC, people. All together now, "reeee-PUB-lick."
To: americalost
As in, "FREE REPUBLIC." This ain't France. This is a loose confederation of mini nation states. Oregon is as sovereign as any other state.
To: RippleFire
God Forbid, Portland should have an attack as NYC had & maybe they would react differently. TO PORTLAND POLICE: COME TO MY AREA AND I'LL TAKE YOU FOR A WALK 3 BLOCKS FROM HERE. YOU'LL BE SUBMITTING NAMES, ADDRESSES & AND ANYTHING ELSE ASHCROFT WANTS!!!!
To: Dog
I had a friend that I visited in portland about ten years ago. She keeps asking why I have never been back. I wouldn't doubt that the cops were in the park by the river having a smoke, if you get my drift.
To: americalost
Good point. Everyone seems to have forgotten the one item in the Brady gun bill that was thrown out by the U.S. Supreme Court -- the mandatory background checks were declared unconstitutional because the Federal government cannot force local police departments to carry out Federal law enforcement duties.
To: RippleFire
Now we know: at least one adult lives in Oregon.
