FReepers! I need emails to send to our troops with the Christmas presents that are being mailed out this week to the 101st AIRBORNE. We have 200 plus presents, but only about a third of them so far have a personal message to go with them to show the troops that we care about them and are grateful for their sacrifices for our country and for putting their lives on the line for our freedom.
PLEASE FReepMail me or send an email to my personal email (below) a Dear Soldier note for the Holidays! Do it today, so I can print them out and put them in the box tomorrow.
AND if anyone could also contribute toward purchasing one or more scarves, or contribute toward the postage, just FReepmail me for my snail mail address or use www.paypal.com and pay by credit card using my personal email address (below).
So far, ABOUT 1/3 of the 200 scarves are bought or pledged, and I would like to put someone else's name, not mine on at least some of the 130 scarves yet to be adopted and given to a serviceman pulling duty on Christmas at an observation post or wherever they may be now that the 101st Airborne has been moved. Guess where? In fact, the news is reporting our troops are landing near Kandahar now.

This is a weird war. There are more foreign journalists dead than American soldiers. And the one confirmed CIA American soldier killed was because of the utter stupidity of a journalist.
Praying for our brave warriors is the least I can do, and yet it is the best gift I can offer. Prayer warriors, to your posts!
Homeland Hearth Merry Christmas 'round this spinning world; You Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. In this great battle into which you're hurled, Know now you're spoken in our prayers and dreams. The Universe is vast and often dark, The galaxies are scattered through the cold, Yet in this Milky Way we see the Spark, On Earth we witness History unfold. Sometimes we wake up and the world is changed, And we perceive a glimmer of His plan. Our eyes unchained, we glimpse the pre-arranged, And we accept the cause of mortal man. You fight that Freedom's Fire will ever burn. Your cause is ours; our debt is yours. Return.
FReepers RULE !!!!!! I love Freepers they are the best in all the land.
When he visited the troops at Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo in June, I think, I realized how we had completely forgotten our servicemen and women over there. Young people who were putting their lives on the line for us in a dangerous part of the world. Whether we believed in the commitment America had made there or not, those service members had had to go. And we had forgotten them.
When President Bush told them how important their service was and how their example of the American way was doing so much good in teaching the people there that it was possible to live in peace despite differences, there was such a hush. The faces of the soldiers were so hungry for some approval and thanks and meaning that I wept.
And that is how this began. I asked my cousin, an Army Colonel, what to send, what to do, and he pointed me in the direction we are going now.
