Harry Browne has just disappointed me for the last time.
It is obvious that someone needs to step up and wrestle away the LP from this band of leadership. Either shout down the Bill Mahr wing or its finished.
Or maybe just abandon the LP and fight and tear into the the RP. The one effective tactic used by the left which is admirable is that they get into your face. I would gladly welcome a fight within the RP. Anyone else feel the same way?

My response was to abandon the Libertarian Party. I was originally attracted to the LP because its cause was noble...complete annihilation of the socialist policies that the left have impaled us with over the last 70 years, and a return to the constitutional democracy intended by our founding fathers. What I saw, in ever increasing numbers, were drugged out hippies looking for a way to legalize their highs. I saw "social" Libertarians, who seemed to believe that we could provide absolute (taxless) freedom while also providing a welfare safety net. I even met a few nuts who were actually upset at the fact that they aren't allowed to own tanks or store high explosives in their garage. I've been gradually losing faith in the LP for several years now, but when some of the party heads started spewing Chomskyite "Blame America First" b*llsh*t after the September 11th attacks, I went down and officially changed my political affiliation to Republican. I still stand by it's fundamental ideals, but I can no longer support it in any good concience.
That's not to say that the Republicans are better. They are nearly as socialist as the Democrats on many issues, and only about half of the party can honestly call themselves "right wing". Between the influence of big money business interests, the RINO's who are more blue than Gore, and the American Taliban extremist right who want to turn this free country into a Christian theocracy, the Republican party has a lot of cleaning up to do. I just realized that my time was better spent trying to convert Republicans to constitutionalism, versus shouting into the wind with the increasingly kooked out LP.

Yes we have some Rockefeller type(very old) nuts and a bunch of religious right wingers who attack tinky winky but when taken as a group and not individuals we have the high ground.

That I would love to witness! Bet he wouldn't answer your questions!

The Republicans are nothing but the opposite side of the same bad luck coin that represents the democrats.

I once went to a couple of John Birch meetings to see what all the fuss was about. I soon realized that some other entity was pulling the strings and it was not a democracy based movement. I then remembered a quote from some guy who said "we will bury you" and another who stated "we will destroy you from within." I got the picture then and I have never looked back.

...and a bunch of compromising cowards who cannot make an argument for small government. God love 'em.

To: Liberty Teeth I agree completely. It is high time for the LP to fashion a foreign policy as good as its domestic policy. Browne had the snot beat out of him, deservedly and resoundingly, by Al D'Amato. Here in the People's Republic of Travis, the Libertarian Party aired the entirety of Ramsey Clark's completely stupid Neighborhood Bully "we deserve to be attacked" screed. Tonight, Browne echoed the stupidity, he actually complained that "we are bombing innocent people." It was glorious to see him stomped by D'Amato. The Libertarian Party of the USA needs to realize that foreign policy is, well, "foreign." Other people and other governments may not think like we do, or at all. They may have no concept of the "Libertarian Truce." It is a Constitutional responsibility for the Government to be prepared for such cases. That means to meet violence with violence, a currency that even animals understand. It simply isn't possible to defeat bin Laden by debating Austrian economics. 84 posted on 11/21/01 9:44 PM Pacific by toddhisattva100% agreement with your post.
....which is, by the way, a rarity for me, toddhisatva -- as I normally consider you one of those obnoxious atheist libertarians who considers the Religious Right to be the "enemy"... and on that subject, has it yet occurred to you that the "Religious Right" are the group, through the agency of private and home schooling, most likely to "opt out" of the single largest economic drain on personal Economic Liberty and Property Rights, the so-called "Public Schooling" system??
Christian Libertarians like myself would find it a whole lot easier to convince our home-schooling conservative christian friends that the Leviathan STATE is our long-term enemy, were it not for Atheist Libertarians like yourself who seem insistent upon antagonizing the Christian Right, thus convincing them that "libertarians" are the Enemy.
Not a Personal Attack... but certainly a Personal Rant, on my part -- perhaps you see where I am coming from.

You sound like one of those people who don't want a raise because you will have to pay more taxes. LOL!

Your strategy sounds good to me.I don't think I could stomach a 100 % libertarian society, but we could use a good dose of it.
The druggies and tank fanatics do give the rest of the LP a bad name. We need a limited government, but not an anarchy.
To: Tauzero
Hopefully not.

Believe me, there is nothing on Jerry Springer that could even come close to our story. But we could never go on the show because our story is true and not all of the players know all of the parts.
Fortunately we have been estranged since Sept 29th when her brother and lover burglarized one of my businesses.
