Then delete the space between the < and "img", so it will start <img

Is the image already online somewhere? Do you have the URL for it? http://www.something.....

First check out
HTML Bootcamp.
Then find a spot on the internet to host your pictures (Photopoint will do this for a small fee.)
Then create a link like this:
<img src="http://www.freerepublic.com/images/frlogo.gif">

OK. Here it is short and simple-
<img src="http://glenavalon.com/images/mikefbattles.jpg">
Gives you this:
While <center><img src="http://glenavalon.com/images/mikefbattles.jpg"></center>
Gives you this:

What the others have posted I won't rehash. One thing missing though is, how to get the link.
On the page where the image resides (assuming it is on the web somewhere), put your cursor on the image and right click. If you're using Netscape a menu will appear and one of the choices will be 'Copy link location', or some such. Select that one. Now the URL is on your clipboard. Return to your posting page and right click again at the position where you want to image to appear. Select 'Paste'. The URL will appear without having to do all that typing and without fear of error.
You can put the HTML stuff in either before or after pasting the link.

What you may be missing is that your photo must be located on a server someplace, NOT JUST ON YOUR HARD DRIVE. You cannot upload a photo to FR, only LINK TO IT from FR. After you store it on a server, then HTML Bootcamp tells you how to make the link.
If you already have a web page someplace, you can store your photos on that same site and they will not interfere with your webpage. Just create a new and separate directory there named PHOTOS or something, and upload your stuff to it. Then link to there per HTML Bootcamp.
Does that help?
