When a state is larger and more productive than most countries in the world, it tends to produce a diverse lot. Besides, somebody has to live in Austin!

I live in California, and have been down to Houston on business several times. I could really like Texas if is wasn't for the weather. It's to hot and sticky for me.

That is another nice thing about the state. If Houston is too hot and sticky for you, mind you I wouldn't live there, there is still a wonderful variety of destinations. Most with a much more favorable climate and far fewer maskeeters.

Honeychile, the heat and humidity ain't nothin at all. It's the bugs that'll keep the real Yankees out. I took the garbage out one fine spring day in San Antone and a bug like to almost stepped on me. That was back in the Carter years, or was it Reagan? Seems like the bugs are even bigger still in Texas than they usta be.

Texas ain't Houston. We got everything; plains, prairies, desert, mountains, you name it. Tell you the truth, I wouldn't live in Houston, either.

I went thru Texas on a Greyhound bus and IMO the state was hot, dry and boring. The rest stop was a bus stop in the middle of nowhere. Vending machines only, sheesh, if only they stopped in a Tex-Mex cafe.
