Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be.

I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting.

I didn't make it up, there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate. The discussion went well without name calling, but this person seems to have taken issue to the fact that I pointed out women seem to vote more liberally than men.

All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out.

Why is this? Is this a Libertarian site now?

I have noticed more and more posters standing up for Abortion, Homosexuality, the Porn Industry and Drugs since I first came to this site back before the 2000 Election.

Are Christian Conservatives(Who make up a large part of the Republican core vote) not allowed here anymore?

Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member.

i am at times disenchanted with the republicans for reasons you have articulated. i was much pleased with the reagan revolution, but it has lost much of its steam. i need to convince myself that there is a better alternative to defeat the democrats and shrink government.

You're are wasting your fingertips on these angry "conservative" male types. If you express the least little thought to the "left" of the arbitrary parameters they've drawn they will accuse you of being liberal, a man-hater, a feminazi, blah-blah-blah.

They are pathetic, nasty, insecure, illogical cementheads and they really hate it when you fight back. I am a gun-toting, pro-life, anti-socialist, happily married armed services mother who gets accused of being a "liberal" every time I defend women's suffrage with these guys. The label "liberal" from these jerks is a badge of honor.

P.S. to VA--I also defend assaults against the lapses in logic that paint all women (men, races, religions) with the same brush. I guess that's pretty liberal, too.

There's a method to my madness, tommy boy... I vote the way I do because the two-party system in this country is a stark reality the ramifications of which too many toked-out zealots in this country fail to comprehend. Ya can't run a one-man football team. Ya gotta hang with the good ol' boys club for better or for worse if you want to get anywhere-- and maybe their breath does stink but nobody's perfect. The Republican party, as a whole, stands for personal responsibility and other good conservative crap that resonates more with how I think life should be lived... Libs always seemed too loose cannon for me to actually fly their flag.

So every time you open up your pie-hole and start yammering about how unfair things are and how you dont get the respect you DESERVE,you automatically make the list. And, hundreds of thousands of conservative white males died on the battlefield so that you could live here in peace and every time you complain about them you're pissing on their graves and that pisses me off!! You want respect, you earn it. It's up to you to figure out how.

Neither did I. You still have some libertarian views though, as I. Perhaps you, like I, do not wish to throw away your vote and prefer to mold the people and the party that can accomplish something into something that is as close to your beliefs as is practical. A little bit is better than everything, especially when you see a pure libertarian view as flawed in that it is impractical for a complex society such as ours. I personally feel that one can focus on the philosophical underpinnings of Libertariansim, but must recognize that pure Libertarianism can only be a theoretical model due to practical reality and politics. Hence, we must recognize that pushing for a 100% pure libertarian approach to governance and society is likely to turn off those that may share some philosophical views and drive them away, resulting in a continuation of growing governement. Small victories, while not as satisfying, helps us more in the long run, than simply winning arguments while losing on the policy front.

The trouble with even attempting to have a rational debate with a Liberal, is that they generally have neither a valid nor sound position. They are crippled by their relativism and lack of well-founded, defensible principles.

If they had real Faith, they could get away with saying "it's just what I truly, sincerely believe". But they don't. The arguments are generally ones of expediency and compromise.

Finally, Liberals are generally disingenuous as I encounter them-- thus their favorite tactic is to accuse 'us' of the very behaviour we abhore. We have to react by defending, because we see the shame in their claim. They, however, feel free to calim all behaviour is just fine.

I'm rambling, but Free Republic serves a fine purpose -- the delivery of news less filtered. We take the news less filtered, and that has made all the difference. The ensuing discussions challenge the mind. It also removes a number of misconceptions and a LOT of tin foil.

Do you have any idea what my conservative credentials are? Of course not, nor would you care if you knew. Almost as annoying is your tendency to PUT EVERYTHING IN CAPITALS TO MAKE YOUR POINT. Shouting doesn't make you right, it just makes you loud.

Now that you have labeled yourself, please re-read the post you directed me to. It does not say all MAWGs are alike; I described the "angry" ones. They are the ones who lash out at groups without regard to individual character. Guess you outed yourself.

I happen to be married to an affable, extremely conservative MAWG who has a great deal of sense, never shouts to make a point, and has helped raise some fine conservative kids who aren't angry, either. They are rational, productive and logical, just like dad. I respect him with all my heart.
