Harry Potter, the movie, grossed over $93 million this past weekend. Good! I love it. I love it for two reasons: First, the Potter phenomenon is responsible for sending millions of children worldwide to the books. They actually put down the video games controllers and picked up books! Second, the Potter books and movies are making religious zealots just nuts!
For the lighter side of todays Nuze I offer you this letter to the editor which appeared in the Lynchburg (Va.) Ledger:
Letter to the Editor:
Religion in Politics
Harry Potter and "Wizardry."
The Bible says that we are to stay away from wizardry, witchcraft, sorcery, divination, charmers, etc., that these are an "abomination" (sin) unto the Lord. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). "Harry Potter" advocates these things, thusly contradicting the Word of God.
I have prayed fervently that the September 11th calamity would lead this country to repentance and a national revival. I will continue to pray that prayer. However, Its disheartening to see a great number of the American people turn to "Satan worship" rather than to God.
The "Harry Potter" craze is Satanism. I have not read the book nor have I seen the movie, and I dont intend to do either. But, I have seen and heard enough to make this determination. Many are saying that its just an innocent movie for entertainment, and that they dont see anything wrong with it. Well, the Bible tells us to trust in the Lord and lean not unto our own understanding. Now, I know this is an insult to the "intellects." But, ones intelligence is "null and void" compared to Gods wisdom. The Bible also tells us to stay away from even the "appearance" of evil, and this appears to be evil. For those who think that this movie is just innocent entertainment remember, Satan is a master deceiver.
This nation is in a fragile situation. We can easily go one way or the other. We need to turn to God. If we dont, then September 11th is just a "drop in the bucket," compared to whats in store for us.
Psychics, Witchcraft, Wizards, etc. are "real" but, they are of the Devil. God is also real and has power over the Devil but, we must turn to Him.
Im a native Washingtonian. The Washington "Bullets" used to be my favorite basketball team. Because of the "gun control" issue, their name was changed to the "Wizards." Im no longer a Washington fan. I have several bullets/guns in my house and I have yet to see one go off and kill someone. Bullets/guns dont kill people, people do. Wizardry is unGodly, and so is Harry Potter.
May America repent and be blessed, amen.
Rev. Kort Greene Jr.

Here is a preacher who has never read a Harry Potter book, and hasnt seen the movie. It doesnt matter, though. Hes heard enough to know that Harry Potter is Satanic. Lets all give thanks that this letter does not in any way represent the feelings or thought patters of mainstream Christianity. This is not the way to bring people to God.
How can I "note" that? You make no reference to Boortz.
Yes, I read the small type. What does it have to do with Boortz or my remarks?
Dan
Daniel 12:10
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried;
but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the
wicked shall understand; but the wise
shall understand.
Asimov? How about Heinlein's juveniles? Quite possibly some of the finest science fiction ever written. Unlike Asimov, Heinlien had more than six character types and actually knew how to keep an exciting plot going. (All right, Foundation and some of the short stories were good, but nothing matches Tunnel in the Sky, Red Planet, Rolling Stones, Double Star, Door into Summer, Starship Troopers etc...)
Heinlein would be a good intro to SF, in my opinion, at least.
That sounds like Kurt Vonnegut's old short story, "Welcome to the Monkey House." In it, the people of an overpopulated world are forced to use something called "ethical birth control," which does nothing to impede fertility, but just makes you numb from the waist down.
Because we don't have an entire generation of satanists or occultists running around.
So CS Lewis was writing "satanic" stories when he put talking animals into the Chronicles of Narnia?
You probably have no idea where Christians got their Christmas and Easter Holidays...let me give you a clue...pagan rituals. Yet we seem to impose some of those pagan rituals on our kids and think we are doing them great good.
And yes, those pagan holidays were Christianized...somwhat...
