It's smart for the press on the front lines to use caution, but it's ridiculous for us to think that anything that we post here that we heard on the news or read at DEBKA or whatever is super secret and that Hussein's prospects for victory change in the least little bit because of the posting.
Saddam Hussein isn't logging on to FR for information about the war.

This was posted originally as the build-up to the War to Liberate Afghanistan. As a little background -- we were starting to deploy troops overseas and people were giving out details on an open forum of movement of troops, etc. At the time, the Administration did not have a real feel for any terrorist activity that might happen in this Country.
The night I wrote this, we had numerous reports from people outside military bases giving exact details so I wanted to put a stop to the actual reports. Thus, I wrote the article.
JohnHuang2 then asked permission to post this as necessary and Jim Robinson was kind enough to write his article on this as well so John combined the two together.
Saddam is not reading this but who is we don't know. If it is not in public, it shouldn't be posted is still my position. I sit in the flight path of Tinker AFB when something is going on instead of normal touch and goes we get as the planes come out of depot maintenance for test flight. I don't intend to post on the open forum what I hear or see when I go on Tinker! Not necessary!

Exactly. The idea that a bunch of us sitting here at our computers somehow know more than Iraqi intelligence actually on the scene is kind of ridiculous. Frankly, calls to "please withhold military information!!!" seem kind of melodramatic.
Anyway, if there IS somebody around here who's so well-connected as to possess "top secret" information, I think it's safe to assume that person is also enough of an insider not to go blasting it around the Web. I mean, come on.

Now that I would be glad to post if I had them!
Waiting to see the pictures from the cameras that are mounted as the bombs head for their targets and then Kaboom! I will never forget that Iraqi crossing the bridge in his vehicle and right as he crossed the bridge it blew up! It was classic.

We know that no one of significance to this war with Iraq is learning anything of significance at FR about the war. But, yet, we post this thread in breaking news. It makes us look like we have delusions of grandeur.

Don't mention names of troops, their families or friends, or their units, troops' home towns, when they leave, etc.
It's a huge temptation because we're all so proud of them and want prayers. Nothing is worth giving the enemy an iota of information, though.

We do have Delusions of Grandeur. The twixie chiks think we are destroying them. BTW I think the enemy couldn't sink a ship they found out about by loose lips if we put a target on it with a welcome sign.

FReeping the Dixie Chicks is the sort of thing we are capable of doing. Threatening national security by posting things already reported online or on TV is not.

Whatta hoot!
GOSH ... that brings back memories! We deployed many a green plastic army man in our sandbox back when during childhood ordnance duty.
