SAVE ELK CREEK DAM RALLY-SAT.NOV.17
Frontiers of Freedom/People for the USA ^ | 11/15/01 | Frontiers of freedom

Posted on 11/16/2001 1:16:01 PM PST by AuntB

The Jackson County Commissioners, Medford, Oregon plan to stage a peaceful protest rally on Saturday Nov. 17th against the planned notching of Elk Creek Dam. The rally will be held at the Elk Trail School, on Elk Creek Road, four miles north of Shady Cove. The rally begins promptly at 12 noon, with the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance. There will be special speakers and updated information, including a film presentation made of Ken Olson, former U.S. Corps of Engineers, Project Director for the three local dams.......Lost Creek, Applegate, and Elk Creek. Olson "speaks out" on Elk Creek Dam.

We need to finish the dam. It is needed for water storage, flood control, to save the fish, and provide irrigation. Plus, the dam is capable of producing hydro-electric power in the future. Millions of dollars in tax payer money has been spent to construct it, we cannot allow millions more wasted to blow a hole in it!

The Jackson County Commissioners are asking everyone possible to attend this rally. Bring your handmade signs and your lunch. Car pool info available upon request. If you want to address the rally, please call the commissioners at 774-6117, fax at 774-6705, or reach them in person at the Jackson County Courthouse, Room 200, 10 S. Oakdale, Medford, OR.

BRING YOUR FLAGS!

This will be an informative meeting and rally. Please attend if you can and get the lowdown on the insanity of destroying needed dams. The Elk Creek Dam is nearly complete and now they want to blow a 200 ft. hole in it....remember the coho salmon has been "delisted" as endangered...the main excuse for destroying this taxpayer funded structure.

Andy Kerr and his band of enviral green Nazis never rest do they?

Amazing that they are so arrogant with all of the news re the over abundance of hatchery and "native" Coho's in the Rogue River System as well as the rest of Oregon. Then factor in the latest legal rulings that there is zero difference between the DNA of a hatchery Coho versus a "native" Coho! Of course these enviral Nazis in Oregon have never let good science and good laws stop them from terrorizing the good people of Oregon!

Andy Kerr and his fellow green Nazis who draw fat paychecks from the ONRC enviral outfits are more dangersous to the average Oregonian than any Islamic terrorist!

This is just more of Kerr's grand plan to remove all humans/Rural Cleansing from Klamath Falls to the Pacific Ocean. Of course the communist republic of Ashland will remain so that Kerr and his minions have a place to live and plan more terrorist activities against the people of Oregon!

It is about time that all of the unemployed Oregonians, who are unemployed due to Kerr, the ONRC, the Elfs, the Alfs and other enviro nazis rise up and cast these enviral demons/terrorists into the ocean. Under the hand of their enviral puppet, Katzenslobber, the Oregon economy has been trashed as per Kerr's/ONRC plans and policies! Kerr has stood for less people and less jobs in Oregon for about a decade!

The anarchists in Eugene and other enviro terrorist organizations have just about strangled the Oregon timber industry this past year. That relates to less jobs and income for Oregonians.

Excuse the rant and good luck with your protest!

I think the tide is turning Grampa, and these Sierra Club types are being exposed for the racketeers they are. Did you hear that Greg Walden introduced a bill to repay the Klamath people for the "irrigation" they paid this year but did not get? It passed UNANIMOUSLY in the house yesterday. This dam, like Klamath Lake, has no sound science for it's destruction.

Auntie B posted, "I think the tide is turning Grampa, and these Sierra Club types are being exposed for the racketeers they are."

Lets not limit their lables to racketeers. These people are full fledged enviral terrorists. These enviral terrorists and their hand puppet have decimated the Oregone economy as per Kerr's less jobs and less Oregonian rural cleansing policy!

"Did you hear that Greg Walden introduced a bill to repay the Klamath people for the "irrigation" they paid this year but did not get? It passed UNANIMOUSLY in the house yesterday."

No I did not hear this good news. These poor farmers paid for the water to irrigate their crops, and the enviral terrorists led by Kerr screwed them! Time to get that money back with interest or as full payment for the irrigation water needed by them in 2002!

This dam, like Klamath Lake, has no sound science for it's destruction."

You are absolutely correct here! Kerr and his fellow enviral terrorists don't want an efficient hydro power system there. Also, they want floods to cleanse the Elk Creek and the part of the Rogue below Elk Creed of the vile humans who dare to live and work in this area. This dam will mean stable power and positive control of the water, and Kerr et al hate that!

Article from the Herald and News yesterday (Sounds like acknowledgement of a "taking" to me!):

The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday unanimously passed legislation introduced to bring relief to farmers and ranchers in the Klamath Basin.

The measure, entitled the Klamath Basin Emergency Operation and Maintenance Refund Act of 2001, would refund about $4 million spent by irrigation districts in the Klamath Reclamation Project for operations and maintenance.

This bill provides critical relief to the farmers and ranchers of the Klamath Basin and paves the way to put money in the pockets of the hard-working people who need it most, said Rep. Greg Walden, who introduced the measure.

He said the bill, co-sponsored by Reps. Peter DeFazio and Darlene Hooley, resulted from the testimony heard at a congressional field hearing held in Klamath Falls in June.

The bill âprovides both a measure of fairness and a measure of emergency relief, Walden said. It puts money back in the hands of the farmers who so desperately need it.

The Senate must approve the bill before it is sent to President Bush for his consideration.

The bill authorizes the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to return or waive fees paid by irrigation districts for the operation and maintenance of Klamath Reclamation Project canals.

To qualify for payments, a district must have a water-supply contract with the bureau for water from Upper Klamath Lake and the Klamath River. Qualifying districts must have gotten a limited amount of water this year and can't have received refund payments from other sources.

Irrigation districts then are required to return the savings to their customers.

Thanks for posting this copy of a common sense bill!

If our senate rejects this bill, we should reject them with pitchforks! The problem with the senate, is that so many like Dasshole are controlled by the enviralists.

I wonder how much of this four-million-dollar pittance is going to be eaten up administering the grants.

LOLROTF!! I figure the farmers will end up with enough to buy a bottle of water! I don't know, though.....before this is over those farmers may be very rich from damages.

Thanks for the heads up AuntB! Unfortunately, we're still harvesting. We can only deliver through Tuesday, so we're going full steam ahead to finish before then. I hope lots of people show up! I sure would if I could.
