What should one ask a living WW1 veteran?

At the end of this week, I will be arriving home in my hometown in Illinois. Believe it or not, there is a friend of the family who is a true veteran of WW1 and he still has all of his faculties. I am going to interview him for a documentary, but I would really like to hear what some other people would be curious about. If anyone has any "non-humorous" questions or ideas that would aid me in what could be my last chance to ever have a sit-down with a "Dough Boy" (infantry) from WW1, I would really appreciate it.

Also, I wonder how one could find out just how many of these crusty vets are left alive?

I will post a report when I return home.

"....not for me, us, my kids, their kids, anyone. You're probably correct about the inevitability, but I still ask God "why?"..."

Noboby wants it again, Kirk. We didn't pick this one, but it's here, and we have to fight it and win it!

I'm fighting for my grandchildrens' sake now. They are the innocent souls that Islam seeks to enslave! I can't let that happen.

Nobody says it, but this war IS between Islam, the Koran(READ IT!), and the civilized world! We are going have to kill several million Moslems before the bastards stop trying to kill us! I am weary of the people that call 'Islam' a 'religion of peace'! It is a notion of suppression, and it enslaves women, and requires the death of all non-believers!

These people are serious-assholes, and we have to be more-serious in our response!

The last time we, America, faced this kind of cult-like fanaticism, was the Japs in WW-II, and we had to light-off a coupla of really-big-bombs to get their attention. Stay tuned, pal! This is gonna get dirty, and a lotta wogs are gonna die!....FRegards

but I still ask God "why?"

Not sure I understand the why--but if it is the one about why war; why suffering . . .

1) God chose to creat critters of some essence like Himself with whom He could enjoy a Loving Friendship/dialogue with.

2) Love requires the choice to non-love.

3) Choosing the opposite direction, option from Love, from perfection has to involve real consequences else there's no real choice.

4) Those real consequences of choosing non-love, imperfection are suffering, death.

5) God uses suffering as a training aid. But He's not the author of it. His mercy endures forever. But He won't force it on us. Puppetry and robotism don't go with Love. Love requires free-will choice. . . which is another reason He USUALLY leaves enough evidence for FAITH but not so much as to 100% remove all doubt and thereby remove all choice.

Also, HE HAS DECLARED that the greatest sufferings of this life are not worthy to be compared with the glories of a coming one for those who choose to Love, follow, fellowship with HIM.

Actually, as much as I prefer to run from it. . . don't enjoy it . . . suffering has taught me a lot more good stuff, brought a lot more good fruit into my life than has Hagen Daz.

But it's no fun. Still, He cherishes our tears--The Bible says He bottles them as a precious perfume. There are even reports that when His followers are suffering and choose to in the midst of it express Love and allegiance to God, that Almighty God tears up and all Heaven stops for a moment. Interesting thought.
