Conspiracies abound
Self | 11/12/2001 | Lawdude

After reading a few hundred posts on the FR forum today I can only say, FR has turned into a "Conspiracy Theory Haven". People have been posting the most OUTLANDISH comments with absolutely nothing to support them except that a "Government Spokesman" has denied them. I guess that denial is proof in the world of the cynic who is unable to look at information and sift fact from conjecture.

I don't know what caused the crash today. I know for certain I DON'T have enough factual information to even form a reasonable opinion. (Note: the key word is REASONABLE!)

I look at known, objective information which I believe most would accept as factual and add to that pile of info as it becomes available. So far, there is absolutely no, I say again, NO, evidence that the crash was anything but malfunction. Now, a person needs fact to whittle away at that supposition. What FACTS do we have to do so?

Darn little, if any. Let's look-

1) Crashed in Rockaway. Hmmm Normal takeoff route. But one of many.
2) Rockaway is home of Mike Moran. SO?
3) Some witnesses claim to have heard an explosion...Most do not!
4) This type of airplane is crashproof. BS. Not worthy of comment.
Add others and try to RATIONALLY draw conclusions based on FACT. Not some hypothetical desire to be the one that proves it was OBL beyond a reasonable doubt. You ain't gonna be a hero, chum.

Flame away tin hatters, I can take it. But until I see some viable arguments to prove a conspiracy/terrorist influence, I will believe that a mechanical malfunction was the cause for the loss of 255 + innocent lives.

I don't know what caused the crash today.

Not to worry, many will come along and educate you as to who is behind it all.

I guess the words "Rivero" and "Michael" mean nothing to you.

Whatever the government says about anything is exactly the way that it happened...

Under NO circumstances would the government be anything other than completely honest about every event and the cause of every situation...

We must trust our masters at all times and in all places on every subject the government could possibly comment on...

Remember, goverment never lies...

What do you mean that FR has turned into "tin foil hat" land? Its been like that for along time, probably more so during the last election.

The first person I heard today saying this CAN'T be a coincidence was that fat version of Shaggy from "Scooby Doo", Mike Gallagher. I could see the guy cowering under his bed!!!

But I believe the reason so many are prone to this kind of speculation is that government has done nothing to promote our trust. Which politician is straightforward when asked a simple question?

Perhaps if our elected officials were more forthcoming, and didn't sneak through legislation such as the "Patriot" Act people would be less cynical.

The government hasn't said anything. The poster is right, we don't know anything yet except that the nature & timing of the incident is totally suspicious & circumspect. Another poster on another thread noted something else, equally appropriate, along these lines - we know the result but there are a number of possible ways to have acheived that result, including combinations thereof, and we need more info before we can point fingers & know which direction to point those fingers, not to mention which fingers (sic) to point.

What happened to him anyway? Did he get banned or is he boycotting?

Who noted that it was near Mike Moran's house?

You aren't kidding. I haven't seen a single day on FR with such an absurd display in, I don't know how long. These people would feel ashamed if they had the sense to see what they were doing.

"... I will believe that a mechanical malfunction was the cause for the loss of 255 + innocent lives."

What is your proof? Did you design the engine?

This is a rather cheap, unfair, and rather incorrect shot at almost everything that has been posted today. There have been scads of actual information posted, and you make no one the fool here but yourself. Besides which, it was actually Rush Limbaugh that brought up that Rockaway was the home of Mike Moran. Granted, that is probably a real coincidence, but that is the only thing you mentioned here that is even close to being the truth of all that has been posted here today.
Not only that, but five will get you ten, we are right.

Nobody is saying that, and it is not the point! It is utterly irrational to go jumping to conclusions about these incidents without evidence. You and your buddies have been on a paranoid rant all day.

I agree - and said so in an earlier post on another thread.

This hysterical jumping to conclusions within hours after the fact with little solid evidence to back it up has little value to anyone and makes FR appear to be made up mostly of conspiracy fanatics. I trust that isn't the case and that the general tension level in America invites these instant conclusions from those who simply know bin Laden did it. Maybe, maybe not. Shrill posts claiming that this that and the other 'prove' anything at this point are silly and certainly premature. Thanks for pointing this out.

IT happened so soon after take off, the plane could not have been very high. The probabliity of a suitcase bomb being powerful enough at 3,000 feet to bring a plane down is small.

That is why the plane taken down with a bomb over Scotland was at 30,000 plus feet when the bomb went off. The Bomb had an altimeter and electronics to only only explode it at 30 plus thousand feet. The bomb needs the high pressure in the plane and the low pressure outside to assist the bomb in breaking up the air plane.

Someone mentioned the possibility of a Thrust reverser coming down after air born as a possibility. That certainly would do it. the huge yaw would snap off the tail and yank off one of the engines. The plane would come straight down, nose first with the wreck confined to a small area.

A bomb would have had the plane going forward at a good speed and a half mile of Rockaway would be destroyed instead of 12 houses.

It terrorists brougt it down they did it with a missile. A terrorists flying a plane would have likely had enough training to know that crashing straigth down would do the smallest amount of damage.

Rivero was banned because the right people finally figured out that he was using FR to spread anti-American propaganda. If he was ever actually right about anything it would only have been a happy coincidence for him.

it could well be mechanical failure due to sabotage or any number of other possibilities. One thing I don't buy is that the government is going / wishing to cover this up. Remember, as things stand, you have the DemocRATs already trying to undercut Bush and destroy the economy and the Europeans and other countries losing interest here just 2 months post 9/11. To the contrary, what you'll find in those conspiracy circles, given some time, will be that the US & Israelies organized this & sabotaged the plane their/our selves to try and regain support. It only makes sense that we'll learn the real truth in these regards because it's in everyone's best interest to do so.
