Hizbullah leader: US is 'conceited, haughty, arrogant'

BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) - To deafening shouts of "Death to America," the leader of a Lebanese guerrilla group today said US conceit and foolishness will lead to its own demise.

Speaking at a rally south of the Lebanese capital marking "Martyrs' Day," Hizbullah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah said America wanted to establish "unlimited hegemony" over the world.

"But we believe that the new world order based on hegemony will not last long.

The Americans are behaving in a conceited, haughty and arrogant manner, not in a sane manner, and when the strongman is ignorant and foolish, he will be killed by his own foolishness and conceit," Nasrallah said.

Nasrallah criticized US President George W. Bush's speech to the UN General Assembly yesterday, in which he said all countries share an obligation to battle terrorism.

"For every regime that sponsors terror, there is a price to be paid and it will be paid," Bush said. Bush did not single out any nation, but aides said his words were directed at Lebanon, Syria, Iran and other countries whose commitment to the anti-terrorism effort have come under scrutiny.

Washington has put Hizbullah on a list of 22 suspected terrorist organizations and individuals whose finances should be frozen.

The move was part of the US campaign to crack down on terrorist networks following the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington.

Lebanon has refused to name Hizbullah as a terrorist organization and said last Thursday it would not freeze the Iran-backed guerrilla group's assets per Washington' calls. Nasrallah said Bush was "threatening the entire world from under the dome of the United Nations," adding that world leaders sat facing him "like schoolchildren."

"The United States gives itself the right to categorize the people and governments of the world as terrorists and terrorist supporters. It gives itself the right to define terrorism ... At the same time, (US) warplanes were killing 300 civilians in Kabul and Kandahar," he said.

"Are they (victims) all (Osama) bin Laden, are they all al-Qaida organization, are they all Taliban? No," he added.

Saudi dissident bin Laden and his al-Qaida organization are wanted by Washington for orchestrating the September attacks in the United States. Afghanistan's Taliban rulers are harboring them.

Nasrallah urged countries to reject America's "aggression" against Afghanistan. "The important thing is not to surrender to fear and illusion, but to be realistic," he told the thousands who came to hear him speak.

The Martyrs' Day ceremony is held by Hizbullah to commemorate the death of more than 1,200 of its guerillas in fighting with Israel during the Jewish state's 18-year occupation of southern Lebanon, which ended May 2000.

In other Lebaneses news, scores of Lebanese hurled stones at IDF soldiers manning the Fatma crossing point to Lebanon earlier today.

The rioters also tried to damage the security fence at the site, Army Radio said.

...the leader of a Lebanese guerrilla group today said US conceit and foolishness will lead to its own demise.

...whose words were spoken in front of a backdrop of ruins which was once a shining city. These are not the kind of people who can lecture Americans on civilization.

The Lebanese are complaining about the seizing of financial assets. At one time Lebanon was the banking center for the middle east....much like Switzerland was for a good part of the world. By stopping the money flow, the banks are going to be hurting............GREAT FOR US....BAD FOR THE BAD GUYS.

Hizbullah leader: US is 'conceited, haughty, arrogant'

He's just upset because he thought he had the monopoly on that sort of thing.

Neither he nor Hillary apparently appreciate President Bush's rhetorical prowess. No "apparently" about it!

Hey! America has lots to be conceited about. After all, if you had the accomplishments that America has, you'd be conceited, too. Unfortunately, all you Arabs have are oil, terrorists, bigotry, misogeny, and a 7th century religion which isn't looking so good these days.

"The United States gives itself the right to categorize the people and governments of the world as terrorists and terrorist supporters. It gives itself the right to define terrorism ."

That's right, we do.

Nasrallah, bin Laden, Saddam, and the rest of them play the Arabic shell game with the truth. By their statements, they betray their flawed belief that reality is subjective and can be whatever they wish it to be at any point in time. Clearly, they lack any knowledge of Aristotle's Law of Identity.

=========

Identity is the concept that refers to this aspect of existence; the aspect of existing as something in particular, with specific characteristics. An entity without an identity cannot exist because it would be nothing. To exist is to exist as something, and that means to exist with a particular identity.

To have an identity means a single identity; an object cannot have two identities. A tree cannot be a telephone, and a dog cannot be a cat. Each entity exists as something specific, its identity is particular, and it cannot exist as something else. An entity can have more than one characteristic, but any characteristic it has is a part of its identity. A car can be both blue and red, but not at the same time or not in the same respect. Whatever portion is blue cannot be red at the same time, in the same way. Half the car can be red, and the other half blue. But the whole car can't be both red and blue. These two traits, blue and red, each have single, particular identities.

The concept of identity is important because it makes explicit that reality has a definite nature. Since reality has an identity, it is knowable. Since it exists in a particular way, it has no contradictions.

========

In other words, the Hizbullah are terrorists.

The Americans are behaving in a conceited, haughty and arrogant manner,

Yep, and you'll feel the back of our hand a few times before we squash you under our heel like a bug.

Nasrallah said Bush was "threatening the entire world from under the dome of the United Nations," adding that world leaders sat facing him "like schoolchildren."

You're right there, Mr. Nasrallah. When world leaders act like schoolchildren, they'll be treated like schoolchildren.

"The United States gives itself the right to categorize the people and governments of the world as terrorists and terrorist supporters. It gives itself the right to define terrorism ... At the same time, (US) warplanes were killing 300 civilians in Kabul and Kandahar," he said.

When you're the most powerful nation in the world, you will have the right to do the same.

He is right! We are.

And we also have one kick as military.

So if this moron had an ounce of brains he would be trying to make nice nice instead of baiting the bear.

All he is going to achieve with this sort of thing is speeding up appointment with allah.

"...U.S. is 'conceited, haughty, arrogant'". Yes! And what's more she's entitled! Seriously though, we are none of those things. Personally, I find nothing more nauseating than false humility and multicultural blather. We're a wonderful country.
